Verge of buying new rx8 at $18,000

Got back from a local Mazda dealer trying to get rid of its last '04 RX8's... After back and forth negotiations, they offered to buy my current Ford Focus (as trade in) for $8,000 (blue book for personal sale on this is $7,600 at excellent condition), with the RX8, with 6-spd engine, fully loaded Grand Touring Package, at $25,999 (sticker price was $33,000).
With my Ford Focus Trade in calculated, the total cost is $18,000 with tags and license on a brand new RX8 fully completely loaded with everything. Only thing is that color is Yellow, and this is the one dealer wants to move desperately.
Please provide any advice or guidance on this for anyone with experience with this issue, and if this Offer is a Steal or not that great... I have til Monday Feb. 28th to close the deal. thanks.

Not a "steal," imo, but a fair deal for both parties. As for the color, enjoy the fact that it's relatively rare and not available for 2005. If I were you, I'd go for it. I don't think you're likely to find a significantly better deal out there.

P.S. Be sure to require that the car have the various TSB's (Technical Service Bulletins) performed when you pick up the car.

If Mzdogg means "fully completely loaded with everything" as in it also includes NAV, spoiler, appearance pkg, etc., why wouldn't that be a great deal? Especially considering the fact that they're willing to purchase your Focus for more than trade-in value (which means they're giving you probably an extra $2-3000 that most dealers won't give you), if you really want an RX-8, I think it's more a steal than not. A no brainer, if you ask me. That's way less than I paid for my auto 8 + trade-in.

As far as the yellow goes, I agree with your comments, jsh. Yellow was replaced by white in '05, so you'll have the rarest color for the 8. It's not my favorite color (the only common car I've seen that looks good in yellow is the IS300), but at least it's a good yellow (unlike the Celica's ultra ugly honey mustard yellow).

RX8 purchase

Roger that... my fully loaded, I mean everything, including the Grand Touring Package which pretty much covers all avail. options incl. full leather, 9 spkr Bose CD, 8 way pwer leather seats, sunroof, xeon lights, Sirrus Satellite, limited slip diff. w/ Stability and Traction Control, Appearance Package, and everything else you can think of as an option Except NAV, which I really wouldn't want. I can walk away with it for $18,000 which factors in a $200 over Blue Book value for my Focus trade-in.

Super deal. The extra trade in you get exceeds what you'd pay for it without trade in. I'd say go for it. You simply cannot pass an offer like this up. Yellow is a great color, and will be rare one day. Good luck!!

Sounds like a fair deal. Get used to getting stared at with the yellow. You sure about the Sirius Radio on an '04?

Actually, my RX8 (if I finally buy it) is a showroom model w/ a upgraded Bose system (no additional cost to me) w/ Sirrus Ready capability and setup.. don't plan subscribing to premium radio anytime soon, but guess couldn't hurt.
