And I felt a lot better about my choice after going through the "Calling All Reds" thread in the media section last night!
Also, the 8 that I bought was really dirty. The dealership is in Huntington Beach, fairly close to the ocean, so they tend to get a lot of fog during the night, which makes keeping the cars clean a challenge. I'm sure it will look much better when I pick her up today after they detail the car.

Hey Rob,
Good choice. The color grows on you after a while. You got a heck of a deal. Where did you buy?
The community is growing. I just saw TI on the way to work.
How is the driving experience compared to the FD. I have a friend that has a 2nd gen convertible. He loved his car (when it was running).
I'll be looking for ya on the road.
Bill

I really love the color up close. The gold flakes are simply too cool for words!
I did a search on the Mazda website to find the car I wanted. It was in Huntington Beach, a good 50 miles away. But I work in Santa Ana, so it wasn't so bad.
Leaving to pick up the car in 20 minutes!
I have done a lenghty write up on the difference between the 8 and the FD, but those were based only on 3 test drives. Will write more after I have some time with the 8, but in summary the 8 is much more refined than the FD, and I prefer the steering feel and feedback on the 8. The FD is much more of a "brute", and is much harder to drive at its limits than the 8 is. The FD was a great car, I loved it, and I have no doubt that I will miss her more than any other car I have ever sold!
But I won't regret my decision, either.

That's cool Rob. Mine is a red auto, spoiler, appearance, GT, weather mats. I put the rotorys on myself as well as the door edge guards. In Colorado this car is staying in when it snows. Had to order it from a dealer in Texas. There was another one with the same package in Illnois. So there were only two with the packs I wanted , color and auto. So far the car is breaking in rather well and seems to get faster as more miles is put on it. It seems to want to Zoom but I hold it back.

It's definitely hard to hold back when driving this car. I'm trying to hold back during "break in", but even my wife had a hard time holding back when she drove it last night! Believe me, that's saying something!
