some opinions on a deal i found

hey yall just wanted to say that i was at the dealership today and the rep, who knows me very well by now, showed me to this beautfiul black 8 with the classy brown and black interior. it didnt look too bad for having 10k miles on it, and he said its listed at 28,900 and i would probably get a good deal, my only worries is that this used to be a mazda corp rep car and who knows how much they dogged it over the 10k miles, do u guys think its worth it? im still gonna test it before i even think about getting it. its gonna be very hard to purchase this black one b/c my heart has been set on a yellow 8 since the first time i saw it. all the other colors are just too ordinary for me, other than the blue

Which dealer are you talking to? Capitol or Whitten?

Sounds like a decent deal, though I'd see if they won't come down a little on the price. CarMax has had the same car with about 6k less miles for about the same. You should be able to get about $28k out of it. They're only worth about $24-26k on tradein, so they'll still make a good deal on it.

Though, if you've got your heart set on yellow, get a yellow- you don't want a car you're going to resent later, or that makes you think "I could have gotten yellow..."

What options does it have on it? $28,900 for a used 8 with 10k miles on it doesn't sound like that good of a deal to me. Even if it was fully loaded. You could get a brand new one with the Touring package for that price.

Be patient and wait for the one you really want (color, options, etc.). You won't regret it.

That would be like getting married to a 30 year old woman with four kids. Still young, but used.

Spend the extra 3/4k for a new one and what you want on it.

SpaidZ, I see that you are in Richmond. A short drive up I-95 to Fredericksburg can get you a NEW, YELLOW, sport package for $25.4k. They have one waiting for you at Bill Britt. Been there for a couple of months now.

I just got my titanium there last week. Great dealership. They are a no haggle joint with NO pressure. They held my hand for more than a month as I was making-up my mind. I highly recommend!

As MadDog says, Bill Britt has a pretty good reputation. I managed to talk my car down to MSRP way back in February '03 at Capitol because Bill Britt was offering MSRP on the preorders, and I threatened to go there instead. Capitol agreed to MSRP because of them.

Yea I think I will go ahead and wait off on a new 8 considering the Black one was sold the very next day after i was told about it. It went for 26.8. But some good news tho, I recently got to test drive an 8 for the first time. My opinion on it has been basically unchaged even after driving the Z. I felt the Z had tons of power but I wasn't feeling the interior for some reason. But the 8 didnt give me a whole lot of push, although I kept it at about 6k rpm throughout the whole drive. I was pretty amazed when i took a U-turn at broad and gaskins. I was like whoa this has a sick turning radius, and from that alone i can tell this car can take twisties like none other. Im so psyched about getting it now, ahh the wait is such infinite sadness a tear comes to this boys eye...
