Negative IQ? Get hired at a Mazda dealership.

Y'know how we figure out as kids that anytime Mom takes us to the doctor or dentist it's gonna be unpleasant?! I now feel that way about taking my car in to any Mazda dealer for service.

One week ago I called to make the appointment for today for my 8's recall work. Then two days ago I called to add the "M" reflash to the appointment. Whenever I call this dealership, the receptionist who answers the phone transfers me to the service department, where I inevitably get someone's voicemail...no one in service ever actually answers their phone.

So I leave a message that I'd like the PCM reflash done while the car's in for the two recalls. I leave my phone number. No one calls me back.

So I arrive for my appointment at 8:30 this morning. GOOD - they have my appointment in the computer as needing the two recalls AND the reflash... someone did check his voicemail, even though he never called me back. I ask how long it'll be; the guy tells me to come back at 11 AM.

I come back, and the car is reflashed -- but they didn't do the recall work! They feed me some line about "Mazda wants us to verify the VIN number on the car before we can order the parts."

So I ask the guy, "You mean Mazda expects me to bring the car to you TWICE for the recall - once so you can see the VIN, and then again so you can install the ordered parts?!" He says yes. I say BULL$HI+!!

Now I have to take another day off work once the parts come in. Is it just me, or COULDN'T THEY HAVE ORDERED THE PARTS A WEEK AGO AND HAD THEM READY, KNOWING A RECALL JOB WAS COMING IN?!?

Mazda, if you're reading this, your service departments are manned by morons and they're batting .000 with me.

Actually they should have run a VIN and checked for valid recalls before they even let you make the appt.

All Dealers had parts drop shipped to them as the recalls were announced.

The recall even "reminds" the dealer that they can give you a rental car.

ROFL!! I too feel the pain when I need to call the dealership. Sometimes, I even get the butterflies in the stomach.

wow! well first off I know it wasnt browning becasue we dont have voice mail. but besides that, why did they have to order the part specific for your car? it is not a painted part or even vehicle specific part. the air bag recall is just a little piece of wire and the other is a damper. both of whihc any mazda dealer has parts for. if they ran out they could have even picked one up at another dealer to install for you. it really seems wierd that they did not do the recalls. Just because 1 dealer gave you a hard time not all dealers are like that. and not all Mazda Dealers employees have negative IQ!!!

Re: Negative IQ? Get hired at a Mazda dealership.

They told me exactly the same thing.
I do have a second car, so no need to take time off work, but I dread every time I have to bring the car in because my dealership has bad luck with (at least) my vehicles..

4 times shop damage in 2 years... 3 of which on the RX-8 in the past 6 months.

I'm considering doing at least oil changes myself, cannot be so difficult.
