Question on what I paid
I just picked up my Rx8 last month and I was curious how the deal I got was.
I'm not sure what the packages are on it, but I think I saw them saying "Grand Touring" at some point... here's what I got.
2005 Rx-8
5200 miles (yeah thats what sold me)
Nice AEM intake, pretty heavy duty looking model
Leather
Heated Seats
Bose
No Nav
Single Disc
I paid about $23,400 sticker at a dealer. Was that high? I'm starting to think it may have been. The only thing that made me smile is 41 months and 44,958 factory warranty miles left
I didn't argue much because they gave me $1000 less than I paid for my trade I had purchased from them 6 months and 10k miles prior to the Rx-8.

I got mine, 2005 Sport, stock configuration, with 4500 miles on it about a month and a half ago for 19k even. They were asking 21,500, I offered 18k and we settled on 19. You got the GT package with some mods so that's got some value over mine. I've seen a bunch of 04 GTs minus the mods and with 30k miles for around 20k. I'm guessing your deal is an ok one.

why sweat it now? you may have paid a little more than you could have but if you did you're just going to regret things. just enjoy it and don't worry about what you paid at this point.

Yeap, I'm quite content with the purchase.
Thank you very much for the write up on packages. I honestly impulse bought the Rx-8 big time. I knew nothing about the car other than it was a Rotary. I was actually looking for a Jeep Wrangler Sahara (4 door), saw the Rx-8, and realized I turned 25 (insurance drop) a few weeks prior and walked out with a sports car
I know I read someplace that the Grand Touring was like a $4k addon feature, so that definitely ads a bit of value I supppose.
As I said though, I'm very happy with the purchase. I'm screwed for the winter right now, but I have enough cash laying around for a beater for the winter.
Oh and for whoever was curious, the last car was a 2002 Audi A4, 3.0 Quattro, Fully loaded. It was pretty, but maintenance was ridicious (upcoming timing belt change for $2500 etc)

That's actually a good point. Maybe I'll use the money a good ol' stock rim + snow tire, new rim + stock tire switch out.
Mwhahaha
But anyways, Its Spring, and soon to be summer! So I'll deal with that when the time comes
In all seriousness though, the 8 runs alright with snow tires? All I know is that my buddies G35 pretty much sits parked whenever the weather gets bad. I got stuck driving him around in the Quattro all last winter.

I recently went through shopping for in rx8, last to months. I missed an 05 shinka mt with 6000 miles for 18k at inskip nissan by 1 day. I ended up with an 04 base mt w/ performance package w/ 8k miles for 14k.
I've found that in new england sporty cars don't pull in the same numbers that are seen in the rest of the country. Cars that are hard to get in other areas sit on lots here. So the prices I've seen around here might be unusually low. Either way, I was very pleased, and surprised to get into an rx8 for under 15k!

Thats what I was thinking $23k is kinda high for a used 2005 Rx-8 in the area I live in. Now 5k miles on the OD is nice but you have watch those factory warranties they are miles or years 44K left on a 2-3 year old car you may only have 1 year on the warranty dispite the mileage. Something to think about.
But really what counts now is how satisfied are you with your new car. I bought mines used (to avoid the new car taxes and all $$) so thats what counts now. In hind sight no matter how good a deal you made if you check around you will find better deals.
Like I've seen 2006-2007s RX-8s for $23,989 here, don't know what trim line it is but probably not as nice as yours thats something else to consider. Use cars are best value, you can but New car smell.

We get like 3 snows per season in the D.C. area where the roads are flawless the next day.
I wouldn't really worry about the snow or snow tires too much but don't in ANY ACCOUNT drive the stocks in the snow. It's like trying to rollerblade on an ice rink.
Congrats on the purchase!

No matter what the best price for an rx8 is, 23k for a car that offers this much enjoyment is a bargain in my book. Enjoy it, and don't worry about the money, you can always make more. If buying cars was about common sense and economics we'd all be in mazda 3s instead (nothing against the 3 its a great car but...).

I just purchased a used 2006 GT AT with 5400 miles for 21k. So either I got a killer deal or you could have pushed them down a bit on it. I am not a car expert so can't say which one it is.

This Rx-8 was late off the lot apparently.
