Purchasing an used RX8

Hello. I'm new to the forum and new to rx8. I have been interested in buying one since they first came out. Well now I'm ready to buy one. They are hard to find and the one I really liked, well first of all it had all the options I wanted plus it's very affordable which makes me scared. The car also has 82.7k miles. Here's the spec.

2004 Mazda RX8
6spd
82.7k miles

Would it be a bad idea to buy it with so many miles? Should I just wait until a better one comes around? The car is in mint cond.

Thank you!

I'd wait for an 05 or later. I just picked mine up with 36,000 miles for $10,950. That's pretty out of the norm for the area, but I'd wait until something better comes up. I didn't want an 04 because of the engine and flashes that they had that year.

^ +1 A price would help. With that many miles I would'nt spend more than $8,000

what's your location?
Keep in mind also that the 8 year/ 100k mile warranty will probably expire in a year, or less

I forgot to add the price but yes it was $8k. I went with a 05 at with the paddle shifters, 59k miles for $11k, it comes with a 6 mo. or 6k miles powertrain warranty which puts me a little more at ease. It's not from a Mazda dealership, does that mean the 8year/100k warranty for the engine doesn't apply?

the 8yea/100k mile warranty is good on all 8's. Just take it to a dealership for warranty issues.
And, unless you have all of the service records (oil changes, etc), mazda may deny you warranty...

paddle shifters is still an automatic - from what I've read those are problematic. I'd keep looking personally

The problematic auto's were from '04 and early '05. After In '06, the auto 8 was fitted with a 6 port engine and 6 speed tranny, and other upgrades.
