Purchasing an RX-8 NEW...

Will I go wrong with purchasing a New RX-8??

If I follow the basic Rotary engine car, i.e. Check Oil levels regularly and Warm engine up propery before driving and NEVER shut down a cold engine. Will this prove a reliable car?

Is the rotary engine great? if those above steps are adhered to

Serious answers only please!
As I am really wanting an RX8 but the problems first models have encountered scare me. Should I be worried, Or just GO for it??

Thanks

Instead of just getting limited opinions, go to truedelta.com or other sites that compile reliability data on cars. My research tells me that the car had problems in 2004-05, the first two model years. The RX-8's reliability since then has been fine and should be even better with the changes in 2009. Reliability would not be a reason for me not to buy an RX-8. But do your own research and draw your own conclusions

I own a 2004 Mazda Rx8 and for me, it's been pretty reliable.
I have about 69,5xx miles on it right now and I've never had a problem with the engine. I did have to replace the clutch, and normal things like brakes and tires (which you have to replace on all cars.) But if you're buying used, make sure you get a compression test, ask for car fax, history records to make sure the previous owner/owners maintained the engine.
