Pricing for 40th Edition? or 07?

Hi guys,
I'm dealing with two dealers right now.
One dealer only has 40th edition and the other one has 07 GT.
The dealer w/ 40th edition gave me a price of 28,809, and 07 GT's MSRP is 34,000 but they are not giving me a exact price. They are keep telling me that they are going to give me a huge discount.

Do you guys think 40th edition is worth? Or do you guys rather go w/ 07 GT?

Oh the other question. How does rx8 performs in high way? I know it's a great
great great great handling and cornering machine, and that's why I want to buy that car. But how's it on the highway for long distance driving? Does it get affect from WIND a lot?

Thanks guys and I hope I can get good advices before purchasing rx8 )

I've made several long trips with the 8 on the highway and am impressed with the comfort. Cross winds that I went through didn't effect the car too bad but you can definitely feel some of the stronger gusts (we get some pretty drastic wind gusts in my area). I haven't driven too many luxury cars but I heard no real excessive road noise as far as tires, wind resistance, etc. (maybe cause my stereo was up 98% of the time) and the engine doesn't "drone" at all even with the GReddy cat-back I have installed. I think I'm usually at 4500 rpm in 6th gear at around 80 mph which sounds like a lot but is nothing for the rotary engine. It just humms along. I experienced no real fatigue, claustrophobia or anything like that and this was after a 14-hour nonstop (except for gas) from Texas to Colorado. The seats and driving position are excellent for long distance IMO and I'm 6'-3". The car tracks straight down the highway and it's not at all darty or all over the road like light cars with razor sharp steering usually are. The best part about the long distance highway driving was the gas mileage. I usually got 23-24 mpg and this was with several 80 to 90 mph stints through rural New Mexico. Plenty of highway pull available for passing or what not as long as you drop a gear or two. RX-8 is really a good all around daily driver for the city and highway as long as your not bothered with the gas mileage (which isn't ridiculously off of any comparable sports car).

Good luck.

tell the 2nd dealer that you need the lowest price they can go, or else no deal with them.

Would they rather tell you a price ? Or possbility of losing a business ?

the 40th Edition can probably go a bit lower than 28K, maybe 27, cuz seriously there is nothing that "special" in the 40th version when comparing them to the older "Special" edition.

if u like the color of the 40th and don't want a navi, 28 and change sounds reasonable. personally, i don't like the metropolitan gray- though i like the interior seats.

check out this pricing i saw for the 40th and then have a good laugh:

I bought my 07 gt last month for 31k, sticker was just over 32k, there was a 3.5k rebate from mazda for 07's .... i would have paid a lot less but i was so far upside down on my trade in that it equaled out. Ask if they still offer that 3.5k rebate, its worth a try, the worst they can say is NO.... as far as the 40th goes, they only difference is the badging and the stock wheels. Although I liked the gunmetal gray wheels i didnt think the price tag on the 40th was worth it just for the badge. I wanna say it was about 35k.

Personally, I'd go with the 40th edition (Metrosexual Gray is a nice color and I like the interior), but if the other dealer won't even give you a price, why are you even bothering with them. Tell them to fish or cut bait. Why won't they give you a price? That makes no sense.

I've seen the 40th addition...not impressed inside, but the exterior is pretty. I've seen it go out the door for 31K+. With the 08's out, if you can't get a good deal on the GT, find a 3rd dealer, and see if you can get a better deal there. They are all pushing for sales with the economy, and should be willing to go out of their way to get you what you want. Price can also be determined by options, so check that out as well for each.

Wow, that's fantastic. It's a very nice car, but I'm too tall for the moon roof so I bought a Phantom Blue Sport with the performance package today instead. They're practially giving away these cars again.
