Old build date a showstopper?

Is an old build date a showstopper for "new" cars?
I'm looking into a '05 RX-8 w/o any mileage that was shipped out in February '05.
What happens to a car that isn't being used for so long?
Thanks for any responses.

Maybe

Richard Paul bought like your considering, and had problems getting the horsepower on a dyno. Never heard what the outcome was.

Depends how well it was looked after on the lot.

My 99 Miata was built in December 97, probably shipped over here some time in the early summer of 98 (that's when the 99s started appearing, there was no 98 model year miata). I bought it new off the lot in August 99. No problems whatsoever.

Only thing to worry about with an early build 8 is whether the various ECU flashes have been done, and if it has the new starter/battery combo installed.

Can any Mazda dealer re-flash the ECU? Is there a way to check what's the current flash level? Also, is the battery/starter the only thing to worry about?
Thanks again. I got a nice offer on a Feb 05 RX8 GT, but I'm a bit worried...
