Angry Now what? Can't find what I want...

I submitted email inquiries to all my "local" Mazda dealers and none of them have the RX8 I want:
2004 Mazda Rx8 w/ 6 sp. MT
Titanium Gray Metallic w/ black leather interior
Grand Touring package
spare tire kit
front / rear splash guards
moonroof wind deflector
Polished fender strakes

This is the vehicle I want and do not want other extras or other colors. What can I expect if I ask a dealer to "order" this for me? Am I about to get raped? Some of them gaot back to me with pretty good prices, but not the exact car I want....

what was theclosest match? can you do without something? if it is just not getting the strakes or wind deflector, than get the car and order the other parts from trussville mazda. they have the cheapest prices of any dealer for the oem accessories.

Closest match was the right exterior color, but with the red and black interior and a wing spoiler. Neither of these is "my cup of tea" and can't be changed.

One other dealer had the right color, etc., but had the navigation system added in. I'm not interested in spending the extra $ on this.

I know I'm being picky, but this is a major investment for me and it looks like I may have to wait a while to get the car that is just right for me.

Waiting for something this nice is like being told on xmas eve that Christmas is postponed a few days.....

My opinion is for 30K you should be getting exactly what you want. You may have to wait, but obsessing over the delivery is fun, in a sick way :D Lots of people think they're getting a great deal by choosing from stock, but end up paying for options they really wouldn't have bought otherwise.

Oreder the car.
Walk in and give the dealer the amount over invoice you are willing to pay. Tell them it is a deposit and they can keep it if you don't take delivery on car. $300 would be more than enough.
Remember
1. First, they want to sell you the car on the floor (interest exp)
2. Hold back goes to dealer who ordered car
3. Good for dealer to sell cars he has ordered (future allocations)
wait 3-4 months and get what you want

Before you resign yourself to waiting for an "ordered" car to happen, Mazda's website has a very useful tool under the "Build & Buy" section that allows you to search dealer inventories within a 150-mile radius of a given zipcode or named dealer location.

Figure out how far you're willing to drive to get the car you want, and this dandy feature will tell who has what, and exactly how the individual cars are equipped, along with the MSRP.

As has been well documented by now, dealership personnel are notoriously clueless as to what they actually have. Why wait when you could be out there havin' fun in your 8?

Boothguy is right - I used the Mazda USA websearch to find the exact car I wanted. The first dealer I went to was playing games because it was "en route" and then proceded to tell me they searched the tri-state area and couldn't find another one. I then used the site and found a dealer in Central Jersey and bought from them instead. It is a great tool.

normally (as in my case) they did not have the exact rx8 i wanted on the lot or in the warehouse/backlot. so they went looking around and found one in henderson (northern las vegas) at Peoples Mazda....so i told them to go get it and i would buy it. they did. my uncle though is buying an rx8 for his son that just graduated college and is ordering it from japan. i am still wondering exactly what he is getting done to it................................................ ....................
