Newbie Purchasing '07 RX8

Hello RX8Club!

First of all, I am extremely excited to getting my first 8! & am grateful for this community. I've done my research as to what to look out for when buying an 8 (recalls, history of maintenance, recalls, etc), but I wanted some opinions on the current car I am shopping for.

List

Carfax

What do you guys think? It's also my first time buying any car so I'm a little nervous. Any help would be appreciated or added tips, pros and cons, etc.

Also, Can I take this 8 to any mazda dealer for maintenance / warranty even though I purchased it from an Acura dealership?

Thanks Again!

i bought my shinka edition 8 for 16k out the door with a 120k mile warranty from the dealer i bought it from

and it had 25k miles.

look on the used section here you'll find way better deals, from people who really love their 8's and have taken care of them

thanks for the input guys. I had a feeling it was a little pricey for the mileage & not knowing who it came from sort of had me worried.

The problem is when I applied for financing from Capital One / Bank of America, I wasn't approved, but the dealer from Acura is the one that found me financing. Is there anyway I can pick up that lender & use it elsewhere?

Any idea if I can grab my financing from whomever Acura got my approval from and take it elsewhere?

i wouldn't know to be honest with you, i've never done that before i put a lot down on my 8.

most of the time i notice those big dealerships have their own financing company.

i say just go to another dealer and find an 8 if the banks wont approve you, chances are those dealer's will approve u also.

i notice its hard as hell to get approved at banks these days...

Depends. If it's through a commerical bank you might have a shot (I would try calling if this is the case), but if its through Acura's financing arm (do they even do used cars? not sure...) you'll probably be stuck. Sounds to me like they know you're in a spot with financing b/c of your credit and age and are trying to get as much out of you as they can. 17k does sound high, but if you could get a grand or two off of the price I don't think it is excessively so...unfortunately, now if you need to finance a car you have to go through a dealer, and they know this. I believe this is a contributing factor in sell prices being routinely lower on 8 club.

Out of curiosity, what APR are they giving you?

Did the bank turn you down based on total amount? IF so, find out how much they ARE willing to approve you for, and see if you can find one to match.

Don't do it the other way around. You don't want to over-extend yourself financially on this car (or any other car, but especially this one). Find out how much you can afford, and how much you can get approved for, and THEN start looking for an 8 in that price range.

Rough price ranges for the models, poor condition to great condition, and what it should be.
2004s - $8,000 to $12,000
2005s - $10,000 to $13,000
2006s - $12,000 to $15,000
2007s - $14,000 to $17,000
2008s - $16,000 to $20,000

Again, just rough price ranges.

Worry about under priced as well as overpriced without a reasonable reason (mine was underpriced by ~$7k, because the Mercedes dealer thought it was base, not loaded GT)

I wouldn't buy it for more than maybe 14,500 but I think it should be lower. I got my 06 GT last july with only 19000 miles for $14,500.

If you really want it, get them to lower the price way down. do not pay 17k for it.

EDIT:
3 owners already???? skip it. 3 different sets of people = 3 possible idiots that didn't take care of it.

9.9% D:

Based on what I've gotten from you guys, it seems that I'll have to have them shave off a grand or three in the price tag if I can. On other news, Wells Fargo just pre-approved me. Thanks guys! Already feeling the love in the club!

$14.5k for an 04 is way to much imo. You should be able to get an 06 for that easily.

Keep looking. Take your time. I spent 4 months looking for the exact RX-8 I wanted at the price I wanted, before I found it.

Don't rush into one that is just close to what you want just to get in one.

I looked for a year, found the perfect one. Even what it did not have on it was exactly what I wanted left off.
