New 06...Should I try for lower?

Got quoted a price of $28,051 including rebates for a....
06 GT Black/Red Leather
Appearance Package
Rotary accent package
rear spoiler
wheel locks

MSRP is $33,174

I wonder if I could chip away at that price in light of the 07's now on lots and the current recall issues.

Any comments are appreciated.

I'm potentially looking in the market for a deal on an 06 GT too. That price, when you say including rebates, does that mean it's factored as out the door costs or you get cash back later, thus further sweetening up the deal?

The price the dealer quoted me ($28,051) is the price of the car before tax tag and title, having already applied the rebates(1500 cash back and 500 financing thing.
At least I think this is the case. When a dealer quotes you, I assume it doesnt include tax, tag, and title. Is this correct?
Also, what exactly is out the door pricing?
I'm still trying to figure out if I should try for lower, and if so, how much lower.
I can't wait to own this car, but I'm going to be patient and get the best deal possible.

here in the midwest, invoice - rebates - 100 or so was the best possible. until 2007s are all over the place, i don't think they have any incentive to drop it further.

Out the door means the TOTAL price. Everything - the car, taxes, license and any other local "fees".

Dealers hate having to meet an out the door ultimatum. It makes the finance guy wolr harder trying to figure out the privces needed to calculate the fees and taxes to hitcose tothe out the door $.

You should be able to get $2,000+ more off the price to start not including any options.

Check out Edmunds.com or Kelly Blue Book online. They show slight discounts ebven on some high demand hybrids.

Good luck!

Thanks Jimbo for the out the door explanation.
So you think I can get 2,000 more off the price of 28,000? Or are you saying something that I am missing?
Thanks again for the help.

27000, or walk out of the door

They can leave the car on lot if they want, the Longer it is, the lower price they would get

say it nicely tho, let them *feel* that you want to do this business with them.

yeah they still havent sold it, so im going to wait a little longer then go in either at the end of the month or next month if the rebates change for the better.

Your goal should be to do no worse than invoice - rebates. This car isn't selling like the G35 coupe.

I just bought an 06 with 5K off sticker + rebates ( 1500 + 500 ). It was a lease through MACC to get the 500. My was a 6 speed GT, Nav, CD changer, Appearance, Rotary Accent MSRP at 35469 - 5K - 2K rebates. I think 6 to 7K off with rebate would be a good deal. Dealers should be more willing to deal the ones on their lot. If you see 5K off with rebate then it's about what everyone would do right now, nothing too special.

I just bought an 06 with only the sport package (~28000 MSRP) and got them down to just over 24000 (including rebates). this clearly isnt as good as 5k off + rebates, but the dealer claimed that there was more markup on the GT models than on the sport. I have no idea if that's really true, but he did show me the invoice price for it and if I remember correctly it was around 26000(?). at any rate this car is an amazing deal for 24000, and I am not disappointed.

and yes that price does not include all the fees. in my case there was: sales tax (~$800), titling & registration fees (~$50), some bogus processing fee (~$350) and a freight charge (I think it was $250).
