Mazda...refused service
Hey everyone...just thought I'd let ya'll know what happened to me today. There I was strolling up to the front desk with a question on my mind. I asked the very fine looking girl behind the counter to find out whether or not I need the M Flash. After about 15 min here comes the shop mgr. He says to me and i quote "why do you want to have your car flashed?" I calmly reply that i was just wondering whether or not I need it. At this point the husky gentleman, who oviously just had an argument with his sandwich tells me that he does not have time in his shop for unnecessary work Well needless to say that just burned my ***...so I informed him that I would continue to get the work done outside his shop and that he better not even think about not honoring my waranty, heaven forbid i ever need it.

or more preciselyhere print that and read it. all they have to do to see if you need the work is to enter your vin for service- if you need the flash it will show under the "warrenty work needed"(might have a slightly different title) section as MSP04 or as the bulletin number on the first page of the TSB. you can also check your build date and vin against the range listed on teh bulletin. they HAVE to do all cars that falll within the range including ALL DEALER INVENTORY period.

Incoming Rant: Mechanics like that should be Put-Down by the SPCA...
I hate old-school idiots like that. They act like they are doing you a favor working on your car even though he wouldn't have a job if we weren't buying $27K+ Mazdas.
If you want to light the guys A$$ up, report him to your regional Mazda Corporate office. Be specific, date, issue, name of idiot, type of sandwich, etc... You'll get satisfaction. Oh, and enclose the TSB mentioned above--this will make Mazda aware of his skill set and "value" to the Mazda "family."
There's just too much competition these days for cr@p like that from dealers. They work for you and most of them know it. He was able to buy his sandwich because we’re buying Mazdas. Just look at how people responded to the customer service (and quality) of Peugeot, Alfa, Fiat, MG, etc…
Whew, okay calming down. Yeah, I've come across SOBS like that in the past. Think I just had some sort of PTSD Flashback...

Take it to another dealer. I had a similar situation where the only so-called RX-8 expert at my dealer told me the M-Flash was a 3rd party mod. I printed out the TSB and brought it back to him. He said it wasn't necessary. I told him my car was flooding. I later left it there and he never did the TSB. I am now driving 40 miles to the next nearest Mazda dealer. They offered to do the M-Flash immediately.
Good Luck.

Its freaking ridiculous that the dealers refuse to do the REQUIRED work per the TSB. If ANY dealer said that to me, they would not receive one more penny from me. Period.
BTW, I did report Mazda of Knoxville to for the BS they pulled on me about re-flashing a delaer inventory car I went to buy.
In case anyone needs to send a nastygram:

Luckily the the Mazda dealer I bought my car at is extremely cool. But here's a tip....don't ASK them if you need it. TELL them you want it done. It's this simple.....its a first year model and as such mazda will continue to work kinks out and improve the ECU. I would simply print out the TSB and bring it to them and perform the service....you don't need their "expertise" opinion.
