Made a smart choice
So, about a year ago I move to the los angeles area and I need a car. I have no credit history because I've always paid cash for everything, but I found out that being only 22 years old with no credit card is a bad thing. I end up buying a ford focus and a rediculous interest rate (like 14.3 percent). Now I've got fairly established good credit, and I want a real car. I still owe like 7 grand on the focus though, which puts me at about 2 grand upside down (its an 01).
So I go out and drive some cars. I've always been into fast cars, I've owned a couple mustangs, and a 68 olds with a 350 rocket. Was always all about american v8 muscle, but with gas costing what it does out here, and the heavy traffic, I figured a japanese car would be worth checking out. So check out an acrua rsx type s, a nissan sentra spec v, a wrx, mustang gt, the rx8 and a 3 litre z4 just for fun.
I have to say I fell in love with the rx8 and the z4. They are fairly similar cars in my opinion but both have a lot of distinction. I am tired of the toy cars, the drag cars you know? Mustangs and camaros. I don't just want speed, I want to enjoy driving, and though the z4 and the rx8 were close in that regard, I find that my heart pulls towards the rx8 more than anything else. My only complain is the lack of low and mid range power but I imagine a turbo would fix that up just fine.
I didn't realise what kind of payments I'd be getting into with a 30,000 dollar car though. I mean, I can afford it, but it wouldn't be easy as most of my funds have been depleted recently. It's still tempting to just go and buy one, and normally thats the kind of thing I would do, but I've decided to wait a year, pay off my current car, and get an rx8 when they start giving huge rebates on the '05s.
Its going to be a long wait though. I wanna go back to the dealer and ask the sales guy to let me drive it again every day
Sorry for the rant. Just thought I'd share my little story.

Screw gas mileage
but I've decided to wait a year, pay off my current car
Don't buy a car if you can't or can barely afford it. You don't want to be saying to yourself in a year or so, "I can't go out tonight because I have to keep that money for my car payment" Wait, save enough for a good down payment, and keep your finances manageable
