looking at Purchasing RX8

With great deals going on I am looking at getting a rx8. Went to a local dealer drove a 07 model new, and a 04 GT with 41000miles. Id rather get the 07 with warranty, new car(etc...). But the 04 is a GT fully loaded less money etc... Just want to know your thoughts...

I do mostly drive short distances but every now and then drive far
ex:orlando to Miami 3-4hrs depends mph

i am worried about warranty/gremlins on the 04 model/RX8 period but I am pretty sure the dealer would make a killer deal on that car.

I did really enjoy driving the car.

If those are your two options.. go with the 07.

Take some time and read this forum as much as you can, it's a great resource.

Do an advance search for "purchasing" in the title only and you'll find a bunch of replies to your same concerns.

The '04 was the first year of the RX8. Do a search and you'll realize that there were a lot of "teething problems" with the earlier models. Besides, you don't know how those 41k miles were driven in the 04. I'd rather break in the rotary myself.

Now is the best time to buy a brand new 07 because 08s are coming into the dealerships. There is a $3,500 factory rebate on the 07s as well. If you shop around carefully, you can get ~$7,000 below MSRP. With the rebate you can get a "Sports" model for 21k and 26k for a "GT."

Lastly, as the previous poster mentioned, do a lot searches and learn as much as you can; RX8s have some "quirks" unlike the conventional piston engine cars. Lastly, if you do a lot of "stop and go" driving in the city, your gas mileage will terribly suffer in the 8. Good luck.
