Long Distance Car Buying

Hey everyone!I'm counting down the months (Four with a little bit of luck) before I can start searching for and buying an RX8!! Before I do though I'm having a bit of a delema. I have done a lot of car research and searching and have found several cars that fit exactly what I'm looking for, but find out that they are for sale in some place such as New York (I'm from Colorado). Is it feasible to ship a car from a far away location? Is that just dumb since I would never see the car before it arrived?

Secondly I'm from Colorado but am attending College in Oregon, so I really have to locations to look at. One quick question is, would it be stupid to buy a car in Oregon at the end of this school year (May) and drive 1200Miles to Colorado? I thought it would be a fun road trip but at the same time it adds a lot of miles.

Thanks again for the input.

You're better off buying a car local so you can test drive before you buy. Some places will ship for you if you buy it others will just add the cost into the purchase price.

best bet is to buy local and then drive it to where you're going. it is the whole point of buying an 8... loving to drive it.

if you're buying from oregon and you're going to school there it wouldn't be that out of the question to do so since you can test drive and have it looked at someplace local there. you could even do one from NY and get some recommendations from board members here as to where you should have it looked at (check out the NE forum). i would still say it would be worthwhile to fly out and test drive it yourself if things check out okay but use the resources around you if you find something you really like and a price that is right for you.
