Make sure that they aren't monkeying with the numbers. Like low annual/total miles or exhorbitant turn-in fees etc. If you aren't familiar with leasing, try to speak with someone with a lot of experience before you sign.

I called this Mazda dealer in the middle of the day last week. The person who answered the call happened to be the Sales Manager. I told him I had priced out a few cars at the area dealers. I asked him how he is giving me such a low price and he said very bluntly that he's only holding $400 on the car and that he sells for fun and if the Sales Manager for his cash! I guess I called at the right time!

Beachdog - this is my fourth lease and it's still VERY confusing to me. He said the residual on it would be a little over $15,000. The one part I did leave out was it;s for 12,00 miles a year not 15,000

They've obviously gotten a very good rate. Watch the excess mileage fees and the turn in/lease closure fees on the contract. They could make up $2000 just right there.

I'm paying $368/month on a 48 month/12,000 mile lease with 0 due at inception.

M82492- Is this for an '05?

I could have gotten this rate on an '04, but decided to go with an '05 instead. Mine is $390 for 15,000 miles a year for four years, and I felt this was good (I comparison shopped for two months with a number of different dealers and banks).

Yep this is for a 2005 but with only 12,000 miles per year. I don't know how much better I can do. The same dealer is giving me a $292/month rate on a 42 month 12,000 mile lease on a loaded 6. I'm thinking my decsion is pretty clear.....gotta get the 8 right?

12,000 miles? As much as fun as they are to drive, I would hate to be limited to only 1,000 miles a month. It's a great price - just think it through my friend.

Got my lease for $274/month w/ $1500 out of pocket for 30 months w/ 15k per year. I knew 12k wouldn't be nearly enough. Even though I still had one more payment on my Camaro (which I still have) I couldn't pass it up! Now waiting impatiently for April to get here so I can hear that rotary rev again!!!

Bought my 05 yesterday :)

I tried several dealers around here in SFla, and the best I could come up with after pitting a few dealers against each other was:

2005 White RX-8
MT Touring Package
Rear Spoiler
Appearance Package
Cassette Deck (Didn't want to monkey with soldering for AV Jacks just yet).

Total MSRP was about $31 if i recall,

Leased through Wells Fargo at
$419 / mo , 15k miles, 48 month lease, .15 per mile over and $395 dispo fee.
Total inception was about 596 (first payment and tag)

Traded in my old 93 eagle talon, got a whopping $500.00 but it was well worth it

I could have gotten the exact same car for about $5 less /mo from a dealer down the road, however they wouldn't show me thier calculations and changed which car we were talking about 3 times (supposidly by accident).. Dealer I went with was very respectable, open and easiest to deal with I've ever met.

If anyone's interested, Gunther Mazda in Ft.Lauderdale is who i ended up with.. great dealer.

Also depends on location. I know Florida buyers don't catch any slack.

They said they do credit on a 0,1,2 rating scale or something like that. They rated me a 0 which would be the best but I don't really know how. My credit is better than it used to be BY FAR but it was horrible 4 or 5 years ago.

Well that lease deal sounds good, but remember, after paying in all that money you'll end up with nothing in the end. I guess I've just never been a fan of leasing, I'm sure it has it's advanatges for some. Actually, I am depending on you guys who lease to get me into an RX-8 next year. I've loved these cars since I sat in one at a car show before they came out, but they are a bit too expensive for me, I'm hoping that one of you who will be turning in your lease 12 to 16 months from now will let me buy it for the residual, rather than just let it go back to the dealer. I'm looking at all these used ones and it amazes me how they cost the same or almost the same as new ones, with the current discounts. I know most will want to make a profit off me if I buy one, but I'm hoping to meet up with someone who was going to turn it in anyway. I'm not being cheap, just trying to raise a family and that costs big bucks. I don't really care which color as long as it's not black (beautiful, but ages terribly fast), and I'm not picky about options either, as long as it's a 6-speed. I'd rather have a base model, actually. So lease away, I guess! I think the worse the lease payment, the lower the residual, right?

m82492-
I have been thinking about the lease terms you cited at the beginning of the thread, and if you can get a lease for these terms, then you should take it. Just a word of caution: often when something sounds too good to be true, it is. I have run these numbers through a calculator that I have and the one from leasecompare.com, and assuming this is an '05 (which you verified), a sale price of $29,000 (which is close to invoice), no state sales tax, a money factor of .0014 (which is decent), your rebates of $1500, and 12,000 miles/yr, the lease payments range from $364 to $385.

To get to $295, the residual (ALG gives $14,200) has to be padded or the sale price lowered by and additional $4K (equivalent of out the door for $23,500). Somebody has to be losing big time, and most dealers and leasing companies are not known for this.

So, if you close this deal, let us know. You will have accomplished what few others could, and should be congratulated. Best of luck.

That lease deal has to be BS!

Right?

If it's true, great job bro, but the numbers just don't add up. Something is just not right.

I tried for the last 3 weeks to lease and could not even get into the same parking lot as that deal.

I finally broke down and bought a new '04 for $7400 off sticker. I luv it!

Black/Black
GT Pkg
Nav

Sticker: $33,100
Purchased for $25,700 ($28,388 out the door).

No mileage limits!!!

It's possible, I got a 04 6m, touring, appear, and spoiler for 279 a month lease. 1500 down for 30 months/30K, with a residual of 19000 when done, going thru madza. Read carefull...

Deals...

When salespeople quote you monthly payments...

Usually 9 out of 10 times...they aren't including the tax...title...license costs.

They throw the numbers out at you to get your attention.

When you start the paper work...they give you the ACTUAL numbers...

At that point...you are salivating at the thought of driving off the lot with your new

car...and you don't care.

I would ask them for the monthly payment with everything included. That usually

also includes GAP insurance as well...which is something that you want to

purchase.

Rodrigo67-
Your numbers sound more reasonable. m82492 has been given numbers for a GT, 48-month lease which has a higher retail and a lower residual (due to the fact that the lease ends 18 months after yours). I hope we hear from him.
