Help: Guy hit me... insurance vehicle depretation...

Okay, here's the deal.. a guy tapped my rear quarter panel.. the damage isn't extensive, and should be some where between $500-$1000 to repair (the body shop I use is VERY good, but not cheap)...

However, my major concern is that my VIN will show on a car-fax report as having an accident... Hence, I've "lost" value in a "wrecked" vehicle...

How much should I ask for, and HOW do I ask for re-embursment for the value of the vehicle?

Thanks in advance,
Aaron

I wouldn't really worry about Carfax. Dealers never pull a report when appraising a car in trade. Unless you'll be selling it privately and the purchaser chooses to pull that report, no one will know.
