Heads up if you're buying used

I bought my 8 used and didn't know to check for the emergency flat tire repair kit. The 8 does not come standard with a spare of any sort, instead it has a repair kit with compressor, sealant, etc. Look for this if you buy used: it should be strapped to the rear of the trunk on the right side.

Mine didn't have it, and I didn't realize it until after I bought it. I called the local Mazda dealership about getting a new one and they quoted me a price of $487.00! Looks like I may be buying the optional donut spare kit. Oh well, at least I have the key to the wheel locks.

don't worry about the kit or the spare. You dont want to spray that junk in your tire anyway. Just get AAA or you may still have mazda roadside assistance on the car.

Yea when I bought mine from the dealer I asked him where it was, as it was not in the trunk. Turned out he kept it inside so no one stole it on a test drive...But yea I don't plan on using it ever. The compressor might come in handy but I ain't touching the slime.

I just keep it in the trunk for serious emergencies, but the compressor can come in handy.

So go to Wally World and buy a 12 volt compressor for $7.00 and pocket the $480 the dealer was going to rip you off for.

That's exactly what I did, and got some plugs. I still have roadside assistance so I'm OK in any case, but it really burns me that I got screwed on that. If I'd known it was missing I probably could have talked the sales guy down on the price.
