2006 Shinka

Found a 2006 Shinka at a dealer. (the owner of the dealership is driving it) How much do you guys think I should offer? MSRP is 33000. The dealership has put 1500 miles on the car. Should I negotiate as a USED 2006 with 1500 miles??

If you've got your eyes set on the car then go ahead and negotiate. Just gotta go on the assumption that the car might have been driven like the guy stole it...

Are you having trouble finding another shinka in the area? Is that why you want a used one? Or just looking for a good deal?

I bought my car that was formerly a demo model. The dealership manager was a fairly sedate older man. They extended the warrantee at their expense which for me was more of a vote of confidence than of actual use. If I hit 60k miles and still have a car that would be considered for warrantee drivetrain service, I probably don't like it very much. I also had the car inspected by a mechanic (my brother), bought it as "new" - new car loans have better rates than used and I couldn't front the whole cost of the car, and they chopped 5-6k off the price. I don't know if they would of been as easy going if they new it was the only black 2005 gt with the right combination of options that I could find in the area at the time. I paid 27500 ish for a "new" car after tax/title/license. Prices went down some after I bought due to stock sitting on lots but I'm happy I bought it. After 12k miles, I haven't had any issues. See how good the customer service is at the place. That can be very important. I just figure the first couple thousand miles on the car were probably safer done by someone else than me.

I would definitely make an offer on the Shinka. 1500 miles in the big scheme is nothing. You can save $4-$5K b/c of the miles on the car and moreover it's an 06 and I'm sure they have '07's on the lot.
I would offer them low to mid $20's and see what they come back with. I had a friend buy a demo Grand Cherokee w/ 3000 miles a few years back for $23K when the MSRP was $35K....he sold it 5 years later for 11K, do the math, the guy who paid $35K took a $24K hit while his only depreciated $12K.

Go For it!

This is the only shinka in the el paso / Las Cruces area. I like the car and thought I Might be able to get a hell of a deal on a 2006 demo

OK....Just got a call....First shot across the bow is as follows.

He told me his invoice is 29715

minus 1500 "instant" rebate
minus 1000 if I finance with Mazda

so price BEFORE TT&L is $27,515

I told him I'd get back to him Thursday. MSRP on the SHINKA is 33k
How much more should I crank on them????

Thanks,

Mark

Invoice on a demo with 1500 miles? LOL. That is not even close to what that car will have to go for.

That's a terrible offer. I was able to negotionate a brand new Shinka a few weeks ago for $25750. That was a very good deal and I took a little to long to think about it. It all depends on how much you are willing to pay.

I have had offers for a brand new Shinka with what your dealer is offering without even asking. If it were me, I wouldn't pay any more than $23000. Keep in mind it's a demo that people haven't been gentle with. For that reason alone, I would look for something else for that kind of money.

I agree with bruce_van, be aggressive. However, don't walk away if the lowest they'll go is $24K. That's still a good deal. Don't let what other people's deals influence your deal especially if it's the car you really want. Every dealer is different and has different bottomlines.

I've been to one dealer and made an offer on a car only to have it rejected, then gone to another, made the same offer and had it accepted. Also, sales and prices can be different on a regional basis.

If anyone is looking for a new RX-8, I highly recommend going to Surf City Mazda in Huntington Beach. They were the best dealership. Go talk to Joe or Chad; they're in the internet sales department. Young guys who work hard and not a whole lot of BS like other salesmen.

They didn't have the car I wanted so had one delivered to me for the best price I could get. Just picked her up 11 days ago.

Price is determined by location. Demand vs. Supply.

In his area it's a good deal.

Surf City Mazda is know for a great Service department.

Why this car is no more fun.....

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I drive a sports car, yet,

- No matter how hard I drive, I'm only going as fast as the rest of traffic.
- No matter how loud the car is, it still sound like a vacuum cleaner.
- It has more ratttles than a can of ball bearings.
- It's the most impractical car I have ever owned. going to home depot sucks.
- the doors, well, suck, and the car is compromised in every facet of it's design.
- the sunroof can only open 12 inches.
- It sucks in the snow - with snow tires - It's too low.
- It's light and fuel injected, yet gets only 12mpg.
- I'm getting old, and my back hurts getting in and out.
- the lack of torque SUCKS, really SUCKS, i meany really SUCKS.
- black paint is a bitch to keep clean. much worse when you hate the car.
- I'm convinced that the rotary is a poor choice for a road car engine. racing cars - maybe, planes, boats - ok, but daily drivers? rotary is a bad choice.

The luster of a new design and the promise of rotary speed and high power attracted me to the car at first, but it has all worn off. This car has no long term value for me. It's not a keeper, just and odd duck.

I just want to say it sucks, and I can't wait to get rid of it.
