2004 Touring 39k miles $14850 - good deal

found a 2004 Touring model. 39k miles. 6 MT. full appearance package with spoiler. homelink.
it's touring - so no leather, no heated seats.

asking price is 14850.

private party sale. i'm really worried about 04s as most people here say that they are the one year that had all the problems...so i'm focusing on 05/06 models..

BUT - if I found a very clean 04, and the person was willing to unload it dirt cheap, maybe it would be a good find.

anyone think this car could be had for $11000-12000? I know one guy here posted he got an 04 GT for 12500 with similar miles.

i figure most private party ads have some "cushion" built in...but obviously the average seller thinks their car is worth a lot and they want to get close to asking. the reality of the current market is that cars aren't selling well, sports cars are really not selling, and I would imagine that the 8 is not exactly a hot seller on the used car market given it's MPG rating. so...sellers probably don't have buyers beating down their doors.

that being said - offering someone like this something ridiculous like $10,000 might be met with "F*** you", but offering something like 11-12500 and saying "that's in the ballpark and that's all I will spend"...they might say no, and then after a month goes by and they get no bites, they may call back and say okay.

i bought a used car on a dealer lot once. i made a CRAZY low offer. i made it so low on purpose because I fully expected them to say no and while I WANTED to buy the car, I was not really rady to do it at current market price. so i threw out a nutty low nyumber. they countered..hemmed hawed and said my offer was way too low..no way we can do that. we paid MORE than that for the car, even showed me paperwork claiming that was the case. after 30-45 minutes of tryign to get me to offer more money i walked away. was almost to my car they chased me down in the parking lot and said okay. i bought it. GREAT deal. but that was a car they took in tradea nd probably got dirt cheap..

anyway..point is...given the econmy...i think a buyer might be well served to find a bunch of cars they woudl like to buy - and start lowballing. you may **** off some sellers, but eventually, someone is gonna bite out of desperation and say okay

on a car liek this - what is the selling price for a desperate seller? 11000 or is that just plain stupid?

the car's photos look clean, but i have yet to look at it.
