Is this 07 worth what they are asking?

Theres two 07 rx8's on carmax that are somewhat near me, the link to the comparison of both is below. I am thinking more about the red one thats priced at $16,998 is it worth that? Carmax is no-haggle they wont even drop the price if I am paying cash...

Theres another 07 red rx8 at a nissan dealership near me but they scared me away when he stalled it out once right after he started it and he didnt even think twice about it. Also they advertised it with new tires when it has stock bridgestones(i think) with cracks in them and a taillight filled with water/condensation that they arnt willing to fix. That one was 14k miles priced also at $16,998.

From what I have been reading on this forums I took away that I should stay away from 04 and 05 rx8s, is that about right? I noticed the for sale section was littered with 04's so that gives me another reason not to buy one of those.

You should generally stay away from the 04's. The 05's fixed alot of issues, but you would want to double check that it has had all the TSB's performed on it.

Also mazda extended the warranty for the engine to 100,000 miles. So check to see if it has had a reman engine.

Pretty much the 06+ are OK provided they are mechanically sound and they were not beaten on.

Check for signs of abuse or excessive wear if possible.

there are a lot of '04s/'05s for sale because people have owned them for a while now - not because there is necessarily anything wrong with them. there were some issues in the beginning but most of us have already gone in and gotten the upgraded started and reflashes. that being said, if i were shopping i'd probably start out looking at '07s because of the extra bumper to bumper warranty still left on it.

as for the ones above, i generally advise against going to carmax. their prices are non-negotiable and they tend to be high. i wouldn't worry about the nissan dealership stalling it since it started up fine so wasn't flooded. they should know how to drive but it's not a nissan so they may not be used to it. you can have them put on new tires (or just have them lower the price for you to get some of your choosing) and the condensation will be fixed under warranty. we'd also need more details on what options it had and whether it's a sport, touring, or GT to determine proper price range.

I asked them if they could possibly fix the taillight for me and they told me "anyone looking at used cars expecting them to look like a new car should be buying a new car" and from then on out were very rude to me, so I dont plan on setting foot on that dealerships lot ever again. Even if that one was a good deal, which it may have been alright because I believe it was a GT model with no nav for 16,998 with 14k miles on it.

Edit: Actually it may not be a GT model, I thought I remembered leather seats but they are actually cloth.

Don't be afraid to purchase 04-05 manual transmission RX8's. As long as you make sure all the recalls and flashes are done, they're just as good as the rest.

The problems I heard about are not the only reasons. I am trying to get an 06 or an 07 based mostly on the warranty lasting a bit longer on those incse something does go wrong.

if you are willing to spend 17k on an 07, haggle an 09 down to 20k and get a better car, with much more warranty, for slight price increase.

I could try, I am going to a mazda dealership tomorrow. Its just so damn difficult to find a 6 speed manual rx8 out there, both mazda dealerships I have been to have had only 1 or 2 new and 0 used.

I would rather buy a car from someone on here, but at this point I NEED a car so I might have to pay to much for something...

A used 07 at the mazda dealership near me they are asking 22,500 so the 16,995 doesnt seem as bad.

So upon looking around I see this factory to customer $5000 incentive, one site says invoice price on a 09 rx8 sport package is about 25,362 and 20,362 with the incentive... Do I have to just mention the incentive to them and they will take it off or are they going to fight me for it?
