6 Disc Changer & Sirius Sat Upgrade

Will the 6 disc changer from a 2003 Mazda 6 work in my 2004 RX-8? Are the mechanics behind the trim pieces the same? Or are they 2 completely different parts. I have never pulled out the factory head unit from the dash, so I'm not even sure what is behind there. Wanted to check with you before I pull everything out of the dash and buy parts that dont fit. Also, in order to get the factory Sirius Sat do I have to buy a newer RX-8 factory head unit, a post 2004 unit? This is all driving me nuts and no simple site to go to in order to get the answers!!

Thanks!
Will

I have read that the Mazda 6's 6CD Changers work with the RX-8's. Alot of people on ebay are buying old Mazda 6's CD Changers and sell them as RX-8's all the time.

6-disc - yes they will interchange

Sat radio - Yes you do need to change your audio panel to a newer style audio panel to be able to use the Mazda Sat system.

Question

Hey Bagman,

How much to upgrade a 2004 RX-8 with Bose to a Sirius Sat ready model keeping the Bose? I'm also wanting the in dash 6 disc changer and cassette deck. If I upgrade can I still go get the Mazda 6 in dash 6 disc changer and save some cash or do the Sirius ready units require the RX-8 6 disc changer? Just wanting to be thorough is all.

Thanks!

I went to the website, but the trim piece is not $16.00 it is showing as $29.24.

Also, do you have a decent price on the Factory Sirius receiver, install kit and cassette player with the trim panel?

Hey Bagman!

Are the Mazda OEM Sirius receivers universal in all Mazda vehicles?

The reason I ask is, as stated before I have a 2004 RX-8 that I am ordering an 06 Audio Panel for, so that I can have the factory Sirius option. My buddies brother-in-law runs a junkyard and they got in a totalled CX-9 this weekend. It had the factory Sirius receiver installed. He pulled it and put it back for me and said I could have it if it would fit. So my question to you is are all the Mazda OEM Sirius receivers universal in all Mazda vehicles? Will this Sirius one from a CX-9 work in my RX-8 with the new Audio Panel I'm going to order from your site?

Let me know!

Thanks!

Sorry for the delay in response. I was off for the past 4 days and I wasn't able to get access to parts information needed to reply.

The units themselves are universal (except out of a Mazda6). However you may want to pick up the install kit, 000081K02A.
