winter=bad

so i was driving along I-5 south and i noticed my temp was getting a little hot, so i got off and find that so much snow and ice formed on my engine that it sheared the serpentine belt off! and now theres a ton of little pebbels in my pulley grooves and my alternator. she got way hot too.

the problem was my plastic air diverter broke off from the bumper and was acting like a snow plow straight into my engine.

and my roadside assistance said they couldn't get a tow truck out to me. i was un-reachable. they couldn't get a chained up tow truck out to where my sports car with no chains and summer tires made it eaisly. *******.

That definitely sucks. It's more likely that they were using the "unreachable" excuse to cover for the "every damned truck in the region is already pulling idiots out of snowy ditches so instead of telling you it'll be a 30 hour wait, we'll say we can't drive there" reality.

damn...leave our car at home is probably the best thing to do...I hit a car when going down hill last winter..I'm not going to drive my 8 at snow anymore..
btw..can we use chain on our tires?I'm using 245/40/R18...have anyone tried using snow chain?

Did you try the Mazda roadside assistance or AAA? Sometimes AAA manages to get exclusive dispatch rights on some stretches of highway (Such as I-90 in New York).

I have the same tire size and I've been searching for a shop (both online and retail) that sells tire chains for that size. Unfortunately I can't find one. I already made it a point not to use my 8 when it snows (since we already use our Honda Odyssey with tire chains), but I just want a set of tire chains for my 8 just in case when I really need to "use" the car in snowy conditions like today.

My car has been running like $hit when it is warming up since it got cold. It "pops" for lack of a better word, I gues it is like a misfire only no cel on. Also the other day it was revving up and down from 1k-3k like it wanted to die.

I've been using these, and they work awesomely even on my factory summer tires: Except the really high centering stuff...

www.autosock.us

As easy as they go on, my hands are big so they were a bit a PITA to get on. Im sure everyone after it all melts will have to see what damage came from the snow, im sure i got dings and paint chips, and i gotta go to u mazda for the latest flash, so ill ask em to hike the thing up in the air so i can check for damage below the car.

Just going off what I read from you is that the finance manager did something that sounds illegal and if I were you I would be looking into that.

As for your dad being the main person, they may have done that because his credit was better then yours and that way they could get lower payments for you. Doug's Lynnwood Mazda did that with my loan too and I am cool with it. Granted I was made their first contact so any and all info comes addressed to me so my mom does not have to deal with it because in reality it's my car. But with her credit we got a 4.9% apr rather then what mine would have been upwards of 9.5%... Well worth it in my opinion.

NEVER, NEVER deal with Barrier Motors! They will nickel and dime you at every turn when you do business with them. This is from my first hand experience when we still had our Volvo. A couple of my friends also had the same experience with Barrier Porche and Barrier Mercedes.

Stay the frack away from them!
