2 drives for September. Like August, we're trying out an additional drive series. The extra drive will be a Saturday Drive (Daytime, not a night drive).

I was planning to go on this drive - it starts and ends practically in my own backyard, but I think I better sit it out until I get my differential checked out... I have an appointment to take it in on the 25th (can't do it before then due to my work schedule).
Have a great time - I know you will!

You're welcome. How was the drive? The King Co. mountie was still sitting in the parking lot as everyone was driving away. Did you see any reinforcements on the way?
I only had a few pics and I posted them - nothing great.

On the way home (or, at least, the after lunch segment). My radar detector came on and I tried to warn everyone, but I guess the radios just aren't loud enough for convertibles or windows down driving. Thank goodness for the WONDERFUL brakes on our cars. I was below the speed limit by the time the Smoky came around the bend. Some of the others weren't so fortunate.
3 lessons for the price of none:
1) Get a GOOD radar detector, it'll more than pay for itself.
2) Get a headset for your radio, it makes hearing warnings like "Smoky! Smoky! Smoky!" much easier.
3) Behave on a anything resembling a busy highway (I already knew that one, but got carried away, and everyone else was just following my lead).
At least it was just a warning, though.

Hi Mike
You're welcome. Nice shot of you in the group photo, I cracked up. Glad you had another good time.
Did Scott (with the white 8) convince you to switch from the S2k to the 8, lol?

Yeah, a 2nd car sounds good! You should just go test drive an 8 - some sales people will let you get away with more than we might
I should be on the next drive on the 30th, but it depends on what happens with my 8 - I take it in on the 25th to see if I have a problem with my differential or DSC. Don't know if Volney/Marquis will make it, but I think he's planning on it - last drive before they move

Bump - Counting down to Sunday....
And status on my car - I took it to U-Mazda yesterday, they drove it around but said they weren't hearing/feeling anything bad (shaunv74 can testify that it sounded bad when he rode with me), but they drained and filled the differential once, drove it around, and drained and filled it again. I asked if they saw any metal particles and they said no. But why do it twice if you're not seeing anything? I've been driving it since then and no grinding and clunking yet..
so that means I'll be on the drive!

Hi guys. Unfortunately I won't be able to make it. Jen and I have a prior commitment. I feel bad I won't be able to see off Volney and Tracy. Please pass on our best wishes to them!
Linda, glad to hear your car is okay. If it acts up again you'll have to bring it back and have the tech ride with you just like I did so you can show him exactly what to listen for. It's definitely apparent when you do it right.

Oh man....
It's so sad you guys can't go with us on the last drive with Volney, Tracy, and Kaitlyn ... Will do Shaun.
Thanks, yes, that's what Wally at U-Mazda said too - come back and have a tech ride with me if it's still happening. I like those guys. I've been taking all the "bad" corners I usually had problems on, plus getting in and out of parking spaces, and it's doing fine.

Man, your excuse better be a good one Shaun
That's excellent news Linda. I'm sure they suspected the Diff too, so they basically flushed it and topped it off. If the friction modifier in the diff fluid was broken down, that could cause the sort of noise you've been describing. Here's hoping you're done with that issue.

Last chance to register. Registration at The-Winding-Road closes at midnight so I have plenty of time to get the last few Route Maps together. Remember, I only print Route Maps for Registered Participants.
