There are a bunch of threads in our NW section on this take a browse through them. There are a bunch of great tracks and auto cross events in the area and a pretty active group. Put in your location so we can see where you're near. Read some of the threads on track days and SCCA or BSCC events and post up some questions there.

If you're in Western Washington there're a lot of events, just about every weekend in August and then PIR and PR have track days going all the time. If you're new to driving fast or even if you're not but haven't done it competitively or on a track before, the schools are completely worth it. There's another Porsche school coming up in the first or second week of September and those were incredibly worth it (the first time, the second time we just got them mad at us ).

I'll start putting together the Race in September thread sometime this week, I think it was definitely worthwhile to have a consolidated list for both track days and AutoX. The AutoX events slow down a little in September because Packwood starts becoming less useable.

i'll be at Pacific Raceways on the 27th with the Alfa club. It's a no first timers event though. If you have even one event under your belt they'll let you in.

Which club is this through? I want to do it! I've heard PIR is pretty sweet.

Come on down! That would be awesome! I believe there just a few openings left. If you have experience then it is $170. $200 if its your first time which includes a class the night before.

PIR has 12 turns. It is a fast track as well due to the long straights.

Look for a local club that does track days. I'm sure there's a chapter of the Porsche club out there. Usually you need to go through one non-track school before you can hop onto the track but that varies from club to club and track to track. It's expensive though

I'm not sure how close they are to Santa Cruz but there's Thunder Hill, Button Willow and Willow Springs. They all look like fantastic courses but I've never been to any of them.
