Isn't there a track in Sonoma?

I wonder if they'll let us go to the other side of the track to watch the backside from up on top of the hill?

you'd have to go when they change shifts if you're driving. if you're not driving you could work one of those back corners and earn track dollars

Here's a track worth considering. It looks like a fun one too. It's the old Sears Point or now it's the Infineon Raceway in Sonoma. The schools website is pretty lame, and not a lot of info, which seems a little sketch to me, but it's worht checking out.

http://www.jimrussellusa.com/index.p...=86&Itemid=129

I also find it funny how every racetrack says it's one of the most challenging courses in the U.S.

I'm originally from the Sac area, maybe next summer/fall I'll have to try and come down and drive a track.

I would think all tracks are set up like up here where they put out cones at the entrance, apex, and exit of the turn. Put your car on the cones and you're gold. You also take the course at what you're comfortable at. It's not racing, it's sport driving. All tracks should be pass by permission only in designated areas. Look on the web for tracks in your areas and see if there any schools. I took the Proformance school up here and had a blast. I go back to the track on Wed.

You can also start small. The Porsche Club of America offers a Driver Skills course which they consider a prerequisite for tracking with them anyway that will go a long way towards teaching you the limits of yourself and the car. Just find the website for your region, out here they offer that course every month.

If you're having fun, it really doesn't matter how many people pass you on the main straight

For the Seattle guys, next weekend starts a 3 day SCCA wheel-to-wheel racing event at Bremerton, any interest in stopping by to watch?

It also doesn't matter getting passed, I was having a blast. This was my second session on the track. That 3A is my white whale.

I'm still waiting for him to post the clip where we both pass the red RS6 that was in front of us in that clip after turn 2. After we drop into 3/A according to my intsructor we pulled away from the Porsche I'm thinking he was right on my *** by 5/A. When I let him pass on the staight after turn 9 I lifted off the throttle to let him pass, as soon as I got off of it my instructor told me to punch it. So I did, I was only off the throttle for .5 seconds. He said you don't have to lift for this guy, he then passed me like i was going 20 MPH and I was doing at least 100 hahaha.

Man that was such a fun day.

Do you come into 3a on the right side like that cayman or on the left side. I take it 3-5 feet off the left edge and carry it real deep. It let's you keep your speed up so you can track out nicely until you need to brake for 3b.

Turn 8 is my problem corner. I'm looking forward to working on it this Thursday

I take it about a car length away from the left. I used to hug the left until the last time I went out there and they had a turn study where we got to walk a corner of our choice and I picked 3/A-B. Right before the braking section there are a lot of washboards from the extreme braking downhill. So I take it a little over to the right to miss the bumps. Also for when you go out there, at the end of the slow down and into the entrance of 3/A there is a bit of positive camber; it looks flat when you're flying through. Also after the apex of 3/A don't go all the way to the left at the exit, about a car length from the left it begins to turn into negative camber or off camber whatever you call it.

Good luck on 8 =)

It's looking like I'll be able to take pix on Thursday(or at least try to, don't be upset if the pix suck haha)
