Mukilteo WA anyone live close from here?
i live in mukilteo and need to know why my car is getting 16 mpg avg??? in not even driving it hard and i shift about 2,500 rpm??? anyone know why?
Cause that's the mileage....I wouldn't expect much more from mixed driving. Highway you will get better...
Search...there are tons of threads on the forum about this....and put on your flame suit....cause the heat is coming

Well, I used to be one of the most aggressive in responding to the mpg whining. And honestly, I still think it more than absurd to buy a sports car and then complain about mileage. However, there's really no excuse for our highway mileage. The much bigger, more powerful engines in C5 corvettes sip fuel in comparison. The issue is primarily that VERY tall rear-end ratio. 4.44 is huge. Coming back from CdA, running around 90mph, the vettes were turning 2300 Revs while I was turning 4600. Obviously this has me well into the secondaries while the Big Iron was barely off-idle.
Still, you probably ought to have read the rated mileage before buying the car. Not to be rude, but it shouldn't be surprise. I've had mine down as low as 13 while playing. I'm planning forced induction, which will come with a more reasonable rear-end ratio, so hwy cruising will be better, and play time will hopefully plummet well into the single digits. Now go out and drive the tires off your car. Shifting that low is going to ruin your engine.

I tend to shift in the 5k+ range all the time and I'll generally keep the RPMs higher rather than lower because that's where the car is more responsive to the throttle. Yeah, I get bad gas milage. 200 miles and sometimes less on a tank is what I'm looking at. All freeway driving is a different story and that number improves drastically.
Drive it like it's stolen. That's what this car is for.

Around town I shift at about 6K. Getting on the freeway, and when I'm playing, I shift between 8500 and 9000.
Of course, I commute about 3K mi a year, and play 12-15K miles a year, so I'm probably a bad example. :p

Based on what I hear about you from the monthly meets, yes Kris, yes you are....roflmao
Yup, every single month, rain or shine, summer, fall, winter, and spring.
June's meet is posted here
The only mods to mine so far are RB springs. Sway-bars are coming soon, and hopefully, before year end, BOOST!

I dont know where you fill up but I do know the only decent gas price is at the Arco/AMPM, The problem is (if thats where you fill up) is they have switched over to a 10% blend of Ethenol, If you are using the Ethenol bled you will get about 20% less on your fuel economy.
I will keep my eyes out for you I drive a Galaxy Grey 07 GT with all the bells and ground effects and I will be at the drive this month.
