Well, there's always the drive back down/up Hwy 9, or heading out Hwy 20 a ways if absolutely necessary. However, I usually just back way off if traction is in short supply.
I actually drive as much (maybe more) in the rain than the dry. Fewer sight-seers and sunday drivers, fewer motorhomes and motor-cycles. You can't go as fast, but you can still have lots of fun. You just have to make being smooth the challenge.

As far as the eating goes, there's a Park Office with a Porche near the top, and my father (who will be riding with me this time) has volunteered their portable picnic shelter if it's only drizzly. Otherwise we may have to modify those plans a bit.

I would love to join you guys if you don't mind me drivng the loaner (GM POS) car on Sunday. I'll bring food! Apparently it takes 2 weeks for a truck to deliver my 8 from Philly to Seattle. It looks like the weather is supposed to be great. Kris you seem to be the organizer. Can we swap cellphone numbers via PM so I can contact someone when I get lost during my first ever drive in the NW?

I got a call from Corran_Fox a few hours ago, and unfortunately he's out, but we're still on for the rest of us. Remember, we're meeting at Rasar State Park, just a ways out Hwy 20 from Bellingham. According to the State Parks Website
From I–5 north of Burlington, take exit 232 (Cook Road); travel approximately 6 miles east to stop light in Sedro-Woolley. Turn left (east) onto Highway 20 and continue for approximately 15 miles to Lusk Road. Turn right (south) onto Lusk Road and continue for one mile. Turn left (east) onto Cape Horn Road and continue for one mile. The main park entrance is located on the right.

Hey everyone. It was great to meet you all and what a great day! Kris thanks for awsome burgers and a well planned out drive. My 8 is scheduled to be delivered today so I think I'm going to be finding the nearest gas station and then going for a drive...
BTW I have uploaded the pictures I took from the drive. You can see them here.

Wow you guys! I'm so disappointed I couldn't make this one. The pics were great, thanks Shaunv74!
Who all made it? I saw Kristopher, Volney, Tracy, Kaitlyn, and I'm sure Shaunv74 was taking pics... Did Skinless make it? Anyone else?

Here's a few pics from the event. Sorry it took me so long to get these up. It was really beautiful up there, but being an RX-8 forum I'm currently only sending the ones with cars in them.

Ouch?? I'll send the rest of my pictures when I get them up someplace else, but on the forum you can only attach 5 per message, which is why I only sent the ones with cars. I certainly wasn't trying to imply that everybody should only include the car stuff. Apologies if that's how it was taken. Or did I misunderstand ouch?

Guess I'm a little sensitive about the people stuff... I got on the board becuz of my 8, but I stay on the board becuz of the people.
Sorry I didn't get to meet you this time . Maybe the Leavenworth trip or movie night tomorrow...?

Yeah, I read my original post again and I can definitely see how it could be misunderstood. I definitely didn't intend it that way.
I'm not sure when I'll make the next drive. I'm pretty busy this month, so it probably won't be October.

Thanks! I was just sitting in a parking spot waiting for a couple of the other cars when I looked in my mirror and went "holy crap!". With the mountain in the background and the other mountain in the mirror I couldn't resist a picture, but it looked even better in person. The picture came out pretty good, but it still doesn't do justice to how beautiful it is up there. I'd only been there in the winter, so I had no idea it was so amazing in the summer.
