Is it normal for the engine to sound like a jet engine, went its cold for about 30 to 45 second. Am asking now after two years, because I think its getting louder, but it could be the fact that angelica sleep inside a garage now, and my head is playing tricks on me!!!

 

that is the air pump for emissions . It pumps air into your exhaust .
May be that a bearing is going or something if it is getting really loud .
You could get a cheap one 2nd hand from Mazmart if you need it

 

thank you. I did ask the local Mazda dealer (millan Mazda) and they toll me, they did not know. but a can drop of my car for them to check it out, but like I said its not that loud, I think its more of the sound bouncing of in the garage that makes it sound loader!!!

 

I had been meaning to look up what that sound was, I knew it was normal, but did't know what engine componenet was doing it. Brettus, you just made my search easy, thanx!

 

Yup samething with my 8. It don't bother me any more cusp I've heard it on other 8's.

yes . I removed mine but if you don't have the accessport you will get a cel by doing that .

 

well it not sounding good now and my check engine light is on, so I guess i will be going tomorrow to the dealer to buy one. am guessing that with the code they should be able to tell me if it the air pump or not.

have anybody change one, it look easy, and around how much does the pump cost!!!

 

up-date to my air pump problem. yes the air pump needs to be replace. now since its part of the emission, it cover under the extended warranty, which is good sence the cost is $500. dollars. they have to order it, so I have to go back on Monday, at the same timer there going to fix my rear tail light under warranty too, it only has a littler bit of condensation. I will keep you guy updated next Monday!!!

they but the new air pump and new fuel cap, for free under the extended warranty, but the tail light is not warranty. But its not bad only 180. for the gasket and the labor and oil filter and washer, for my next oil change!!!
