Seems this thread has grown a little quiet, but I just wanted to post and say I'm joining the ranks around Seattle in a black '08. See you all on the roads.

Smile New RX8 Owner Loving it!

Just wanted to say hello to everybody. Just bought the RX8 two weeks ago ('04, SunSilver, 6speed, GT) and I absolutely love the car. Can't wait to start modding it too. I'm thinking CAI first, then exhaust. However, the sport-suspension upgrade on my last car was the greatest "driving pleasure" investment so maybe I'll do that first.... we'll see after some research. Anyways, hello to all, and especially anyone in the Eugene area!

First thing you should know, these cars love to be driven hard. Flooding is when you have too much fuel left in the engine when you shut it off, and it then wont start again. To avoid it, always make sure the engine comes up to temp before shutting it down. If you absolutely must turn it off cold, rev the engine to above 5K on the tach and shut it off while she's still up there. It's not a guarantee, but it should provide a little protection. The last thing you should know is that these cars LOVE to be driven hard.

The other thing to mention that wasn't covered in any of the articles/write ups I read about the car before hand is that the exhaust from this car is particularly hot and that leads to the contents of the trunk getting hotter than you'd expect. I used to keep some bottles of water back there for hiking figuring they'd stay cooler in there than if I left them in the back seat but they'd heat up so much on the ride over that they'd be warm to touch.

Bought my 2007 RX8 on Monday the 11th! Already have 340 miles on it and I love it to death already. And yes I bought this car NEW! Apprently the dealership had an over stock and this car was merely test drived. Never purchased and when I drove it off the lot it had 27 miles on! Nothing like driving home a new car at a used car price!

Looking forward to joining in on some events happening in and around Seattle.

I picked up my 2008 Anniversary Edition on 28 July, and I'm loving it! I've owned every version of the RX-7 in the past, and I'm really looking forward to many enjoyable years with this one!

I do have a question though. I had read that the Anniversary Editions were a limited run in the US, and that each one had a number. Anyone a) know if this is true, and b) where I can find said number? It's not anywhere obvious.

Thanks!
-Mark

Every dealership is only getting 1 or 2, depending on size, period.

I do think we need more rally/gatherings here in the Seattle area. Building on the RX8 community. We really don't have that much going on up here. Once a month is great but every week (for the locals) would be even better! Obviously the out of town people from Oregon, Canada and Eastern Washington can and always will be welcome to come as well. But I just feel like once a month is not enough!

we should do a Saturday morning coffee meet sometime. like in Renton.. i used to work at the Starbucks there and a Porsche club used to meet every other Saturday at like 8am.. im not saying that early but you get the idea we have some coffee talk and still have the whole day to do our honey do list (for those of us that are married).. or we could to a Rotary Breakfast at dennys or something. just an idea!
