BSCC Autocross Season
In SCCA your options are:
Novice - for one or two more events, I'm not sure how many you've done so far but generally they expect you to move onto your real class after 3 events or you win the novice class. I don't think they have a novice class for the pro-solo so you'll have to pick either (T) or (NS4) if you decide to go.
Street tire class (T) using the BSP pax index value.
Non stock 4 (NS4) using the STX pax index value. - this is the class I run and probably the best fit for RX8's with simple bolt on mods.
Time only am or pm (TOAM) and (TOPM)
In WWSCC your options are:
Novice - same as above
Street tire - non-stock (ST2) using the BSP pax index value.
Street tire - touring (ST3) using the STX pax value. - this is the class I run and probably the best fit for RX8's with simple bolt on mods.
Time only am or pm (TOAM) and (TOPM)
In BSCC your options are:
Novice - I believe you can run here all year.
Street tire (T) using the BSP pax index value.
Sports B (SB) - straight up time, no pax value. This is the class I'm running even though its a race tire class, seems to be the best fit. But its a toss up between this and street tire.
Time only am or pm (TOAM) and (TOPM)
Oh man, what a wild grid there was today! I took 2nd in NOVAM as my last Novice finish ever for SCCA... I was 1.5 seconds faster than 1st but I hit a cone, my only one for the morning. Afternoon my tires were overheating and I was all over the place. I ended up faster than the morning but I was sideways enough that a couple people asked me afterwards if I'd been yelled at for drifting

All of my pictures are here: http://pics.dpsubs.org/Packwood_5-17-2009/
Highlights:
The Maxima was back but he broke it today. Something in his front suspension popped out and he started hearing grinding noises. Caused a bunch of reruns behind him in the afternoon.

It was a big grid but we still got 4 runs both AM and PM

And we have a new addition to the known family of F-Mod cars running in local SCCA:

I got to talk to the two guys driving it a lot because I was next to them in grid for the afternoon. It has a 3 gallon gas tank and it only got 4 runs before they had to refill it! I don't think we can complain anymore... <1mpg... Still, it was a two-stroke running 110 octane. They're given a very short list of engines they can run and a maximum tire size/width but I think the body is up to them.

Just a cool shot. Even noobs can take good photos if they shoot enough

Aaaand then there was this ******. He was putting in really good runs and... that thing is super charged.

I didn't take any of the smudge... I missed a lot of stuff actually. Like I didn't take pics of the bonkers mid 90's corvette with the gigantic freaking wing, or of the pull cord start on the F-Mod car next to me, or the decently hot chick in front of me with the speed3... I just need to take a helmet came to these things that takes pics every 10 seconds.
If anyone who's coming has a spray bottle (think pump-up canister with hand sprayer connected by a cord) bring it! Definitely overheated my tires again this afternoon.
We have a new winner of the "Most absurd car at an autocross"

This car was beyond insane. It was in XP too... with that stripped Focus and another stripped civic.
