Hi Track Car ..... appreciate the invite and you are not far from Atlanta. After the holidays I would really like that experience!
Andrew did say even this high compression engine (11. Something/ 1 ) can run 10-12 lbs of boost ok with e 85. Now boost isn’t air flow but ..........still!
Team.....perfect ! Overkill base kit is fairly simple and no internal work ( stock cams etc) is required for this power level. Lfx already as oil squirters to the pistons etc. it also has 2 knock sensors.
Andrew does have one other person interested in going sc.....(this is reminding myself somewhat off when I first called Pettit about their sc ...(am I cursed or does God need a laugh?). We are going to look at the room factor.
Oh and by the way with just a little help this engine could be good to 8k rpm!
I am getting dizzy.

Lol! You are right!
Maybe that is why my middle name is “Hot Damn”?
Actually will check it out Tuesday...2009 model.....hope to get at a very very good price!
does have a 100k miles on chassis, but that doesn’t bother me at this point.
Merry Christmas all and blessings to everyone!

I'm the other person Andrews' talking about. He's building my car in Jan. I mainly do NASA and WRL but want a fun track car that can also serve as a parts car for the WRL RX8/LFX. We'll likely do a S/C later this spring once i have the car done.

Thanks for posting OJ. It is going to be an interesting ride. My build is more dd with hpde fun in mind.
Good to know there is room for sc. Hope my request for a/c doesn’t complicate things.
Well the r3 didn’t work out... too many things wrong with it for me. Several other cars are available around but will hold off purchasing until after the 1st. I am leaning toward an s1 model without sunroof ....if I can find it.
stay tuned.

I was starting to think there weren’t any S1s left w/o the sunroof option. Seem to be getting few and far between.

Doing the lfx thing myself though just shooting for 300 reliable whp. Check out the Goodwin racing hypermiata, it's super charged and putting out really nice numbers and no reports of it being fragile.

Well just damn. Just got out of the hospital. Ruptured a disc is lower back and the pain was incredible ....
seriously. I tried to treat at home etc etc but after two trips to the ER...it was time to be admitted to break the muscle spasms. After all was done etc..saw orth sport specialist .... torn disc. Requires me to do nothing at all until feb. walk on crutches etc until that time and reevaluate I do NOT want surgery if at all possible!
medical bills took some of my money I have saved for this project...so it is going to be a couple more months before it can fully happen. Will buy the rx8 previously mentioned...looking at it tomorrow, but cannot proceed with conversion until funds are rebuilt. Sad! But this is a bucket list item guys and it is going to be done!
Sometimes I think karma has it in for me.......never had any indication of a back problem...in great shape... then bam ...wake up in the morning and there it is!
Please understand that this little swap is going to happen... but it does have a little hiccup.

Take it easy, back injury is no joke. The pain it causes is pretty damn surprising. I'll keep my eye out in Florida for good deals on slick tops for yah.

Cant wait to hear about your tracking. Maybe we will cross paths at road Atlanta one day.
i do wonder if there is an advantage in using a series 2 chassis over the s1

I'm talking to Andrew now as well about doing an LFX swap. This will be a daily driver with occasional autocross/track days. I'm in the process of finding a chassis for the project now. How much does a sunroof reduce headroom? I'm only 5' 8" so I've been trying to determine if a sunroof is going to be a problem for me with a helmet. Most of the cars I'm looking at do have the sunroof. My daily driver is an '05 Sport that I purchased new in 2006. It still runs strong, but with 90k I'm sure it has limited time left. I'm in Washington State, so I'd rather find another chassis closer to one of Andrew's two shops for the swap.

@olddragger I'm sorry to hear about the back issues. I hope your back is recovering well.

The think it's more of 40lbs in the worst place possible then a head room issue. If no one knows the measurements I can figure be it out, just have to shuffle the garage around to get into the car.

If the info I found is correct it looks like the sunroof takes 1.5" of headroom (36.7" vs 38.2"). I'll have to put my helmet on and measure to see how close I currently am.

Nah man, it was one bad module after another on the R3, but the body panels and such ended up on Hoss's car and he just sold his 8 as well. Hoss is doing good we both have 335i's now that are heavily modified with upgraded turbos and all the things

Just an update....covid 19 has taken both mine and my wife’s jobs. Fortunately we are ok financially but there is no room for any hobbies much less expensive ones. One day another rx8 will be in my garage....this is a bucket list item.
