I remember there was a famous shop (that works on RX7s and LSx swaps) asking for a car to perform a first swap on. Forgot which shop... PFS? Forgot. Search?

Various GM V-8 engines were known as "LSx" like the LS5 , and the more recent LS6 & LS7

You can get a an idea from the Hinson site, NOT counting the cost of the car, engine & trans Hinson charges about $9,000 to do a V-8 FD RX-7. Since this swap is something new to the RX-8 world add a couple more grand to that.

Speed costs money, How fast do you want to go?

GET READY TO SPEND 10K PLUS ON THAT SWAP. THERE IS ALOT TO IT, YOU WOULD HAVE TO DO TWICE AS MUCH WORK AS I HAVE DONE WITH THE SR20 AND THE HANDLEING WOULD SUCK DO TO HOW YOU WOULD HAVE TO DO THE STEERING. NOW IF ALL YOU WANT TO DO IS DRAG RACE THEN YOU WILL BE OK, JUST BROKE. iF YOU ACTUALLY DIVE INTO THIS L;ET ME KNOW I MIGHT BE ABLE TO HELP YOU OUT ON SOME THINGS.

Ok maybe not totally screwed but it will not be the same. I had to move my rack forward 4.5" to just clear the crank pulley. The big problem would be the girth of a v8 you would have to put a second universal joint inline somewhere to clear the header on that side. By doing that it creates slop in the steering geomitry. Of the whole thing.
