This thread isn't ripping on rgonza, so I don't know why people are screaming in response posts. There are those of us who respect his work a great deal, but hate the idea of a GM engine in a RX car. That is coming from someone who owned a restored '73 Stingray and loves Corvettes. I just prefer keeping their engines in them and keeping rotary engines in RX's. Obviously rgonza is going to make a completely sick car because that is what he does. That being said, I would rather drool longingly at his 3-rotor creations than American muscle squeezed into the 8. That is personal taste and ymmv.

Hey blackenedwings, have you ever driven an LS1 rx7? They are quite the car . The handling is pretty much the same spot on but thats due to the 13b and twin turbos weighing nearly the same as a LS1 aluminium block. But the rx7 was ALOT lighter to start, so an LSX engine (probably the first) in an RX8 platform will be incredibly interesting to see.

Stroked 6.5L LS3 ftw.
First, the LS7 cylinder walls are not to thin for boost. Probably need to quit listening to what the conservative GM engineers say. Plenty of boosted LS7's running around without any problem, and putting up some sick numbers.

Second, rgonza is probably referring the actual LSX block, not the LS7.
The LSX is a cast iron block capable of displacements up to 511 cubic inches and will take up to 2500hp. A 427 TT LSX would be frickin' NASTY and completely bullet proof. I can't fuggin' wait to see this!!!!!

I give rgonza infinite props if he pulls this off. from seeing what has done with the 3 rotor im very interested to see how he pulls this off. he will encounter just about every problem i have encountered with my swap ( thats not finished cuz im broke) and im going to enjoy seeing his ideas beside what i have come up with for my swap.. and on the bright side it will be somone else for all the fanboys to rip on besides me for having pistons in an 8 lol. Rgonza ftmfw! totally subscribed.

HAH! I was right. Built LSX twin turbo. Holy ****.

You're awesome, rgonza!!! Since you're going turbo, you'll be able to run smaller cast iron exhaust manifolds that will help with the fitment instead of headers. Are you planning on putting the turbos up top, under the car like an APS, or remote in the rear like STS?

Oh, and look out all you haters. I'm just guessing here, but I'd get prepared to see the fastest, most powerful street RX8 on the planet... with a turbocharged iron block OHV bowtie V8. Hell yah!!! I love it!!!

Sweet. Ironically my uncle in Houston has a Corvette that jumped its timing chain and bent a valve or two. He's considering ordering a 427 long block.

What has everyone else done? Are they just converting it to a manual rack and tossing the EPS?
I don't remember if I asked you, but have you considered just doing a manual rack?
