fair enough Team. I didn't want anyone to see me as a rich brat, because Im not. Rather, I wanted to show/explain what I was doing and how I was. Im sorry.

Don't be sorry. Just be wiser the next time. For now you'll just have to bear the cross you crucified yourself on.

I am not trying to beat a dead horse nor am I trying to discourage you from doing this project.

I know you have seen the other threads that all start like this one. I know you have because you posted this in another thread awhile back:

When I graduate in May, This will be what I do to the 8. I cant wait for 400+ lb ft
I am glad you are pushing forward and keeping your head up, but you know where our skepticism comes from because you have read those threads too. Try not to take the posts personally. God Speed

Mawnee, Brettus, and Dozer. Im sorry, I let emotions get to me yesterday.

As of now I know my builder has seen this thread. He will either talk to a few people in private or he will attempt to introduce himself to the community in a post.

Thanks guys

Hello everyone my name is chris and I am the owner of Bailys Hyperformance which is currently in possession of the rx8. Im joining on here to mainly be open to questions and doubts on the build which seems to have a little controversy. To most the swap is a very difficult thing to comprehend and to grasp. In all actuality when you do this stuff everyday its really not that hard. with any swap you always run into the same issues no matter the chassis or the motor. whenever you take something and put it in something its not supposed to be in then alot of issues arrise. some are which-will it fit, what do we need to do to make it fit, header fitment, ps, transmission, driveshaft, will the diff hold, what angle does the motor need to sit, oem gauge cluster, ac control, tunning and harness integration.

well thankfully i have done countless swaps and i know the answer to 90% of these issues possed in the issue with the swap. the hard part of the mounts is already done. the next thing to overcome that is specific to the rx8 chassis is the electronic steering which no problem hinson should have most of this figured out and we will be testing this out soon. I understand alot of threads have been talked about and builds started and not done but that goes for alot of people with diff cars. thats why i get alot of them so i can finish it up for them because they cant figure out what i already know.

people thought this swap would never be done. we were the first in texas to produce a car and now i have these cars coming in from all over to get this done.

still doubt the OP

edit: I want it to happen. I'd love an LSx rx8. I wish him luck but he is going to need more than luck.

I don't see how the shop posting changes any doubt in the OP. I don't know that anyone really doubted that the shop was capable, or if it was possible. All the doubt i've seen is in the OP's ability to finance the build, have the patience required, and his lack of clear goals, budget, expectations, and time.

BH- Factory: Thank you for posting. You obviously have the experience to do the job. I'd love to see one finished and finished right for once. Far too many let downs on most swaps here, let alone LSx swaps. Best of luck to you, and please keep us updated. Pics would be awesome, but i completely understand if you want to keep it under wraps, or just don't want to take time away from working just to take pics for a bunch of fools on the internet

You go to your senior year of college in a cavalier after your rx8 overheats the summer before... haha

again... , I get the financials-but thats what you think you know. I done trying to explain to everyone anything else about money beyond this. I gave you guys an idea of what my financials were to understand, not cast me aside as a jokester.
goals- an ls2 v8 rx8 with hvac, power steering, tcs, abs, etc
time- Im not gonna answer cuz I dont have an honest answer, and we havent even started.
patience- the car has sat for a year, I had patience in mainting the car up til this point while its been garaged, and i havent even been in the same state. not that it's hard, but I do have patience.
expectations- one hell of an awesome rx8.

-Robert

I never expressed my opinion of your position. I was summerizing the general consensus of the thread to answer Subpollution's question. Hell i even wished your shop well and complimented them.

Since you brought it up:
You're right, i didn't drive a cavalier through college, I had an s-10, then a neon, then an escort (that i still have as a beater almost a decade later). I lived on my own and paid for everything of my five years out of pocket with the help of about 8k in student loans and working the whole time. You'll get no slow clap from me for driving a cavalier for a year.

I didn't buy my 8 until i was almost 30. I could have struggled and bought it earlier, but didn't see the need to put myself through that. I could finance a swap too if i wanted but think it's a terrible idea. They only way i would contemplate a swap like that is if i could walk in with $20k in cash and set it on the table without blinking an eye. That's just me though.

fuztupnz- thank you for explaining yourself.

im also here to tell you, it's not that expensive... and a lot of your expense is based on the knowledge of the shop. If they know what they're doing, it wont take as long, and it lowers cost. We're getting almost everything we need from another company. Chris probably has directions from Hinson too, if he even needs them. The other varying cost is the cost of the drivetrain.

Oh, i know it's potentially not that expensive, but i still stand by what i said. If i'm paying someone to do a swap that very, very few have completed, I'd have to be prepared to burn $20k regardless of the experience of the shop. That's just how I am.

I really hope your right about it, because I think the majority of people here are afraid, not because of the work involved, but more the on-going cost associated with it. If you can do it for a LOT less that 20K, then you will have a lot of people interested in it at the same time. Not being critical, I am just more curious as the shop seems more than capable(and willing) for the task at hand.
