So the ticking sound is an exhaust leak? Not from a belt or pulley?

I got my cat gutted a while back. Maybe they didn't put it back in properly?

But if it's an exhaust leak, wouldn't it be REALLY loud? Because it's not being silenced by the exhaust?

Revving the engine only increases the speed of the ticking. Not loudness. Sometimes it's a tick. Sometimes it's a hiss. Sometimes there's no sound at all. I will check under my car for any leaks.

a leak can be a small gap where air rushes out creating a tick sound.

Question, I get a noise too after the car has been driven for some distance (say 50 miles). Sounds like its coming from the mid pipe. Could an exhaust leak, even for a catless car cause the lean code to throw?

What does it sound like? Is it similar to my ticking sound? If not, record a video and post the link.

Alright guys. If anyone is still on this thread, I checked around my CAT for exhaust leaks and couldn't find any. Sparks plugs and wires are all good.

I started my car today and it sounds like a belt related noise. Today was the loudest! It had never been this loud. However, it quieted down as the engine got warm.

I know some of you are gonna say SSV, but that makes more of a rattling noise yeah?

Here's a video. Seems to come from under the engine.

What could this be? A belt? A pulley?

There's really nothing we can do from here, no matter how many videos we watch. You're closest to the car, so you need to take the time with the car to track this down. There are recommendations in this thread of how to do that.

Have you tried running it momentarily with the belts removed? (With the engine warm as you will only want to run for a few seconds after starting, and I mean a few)

No I haven't. Haven't touched the belts as I'm too scared that I'll mess something up. It does sound belt related, right?

To everyone who's following this thread, I'm happy to say that the ticking sound has been solved. Turns out it really was an exhaust leak. That video video I posted sure sounded like a belt or a pulley to me.

I fought two lose nuts where the manifold meets the CAT. Tightened them up and the noise is gone :D

Big thanks to everyone who helped me out! Specially to the people who kept saying that it's an exhaust leak
