Weird ticking sound?

Hello everyone 2007 JDM AT with 30,000 miles here.

I'm getting a weird ticking sound from the engine bay. It goes "tick tick tick" but sometimes it goes "sing sing sing sing" (doing my best to describe the sound haha) and it's driving me crazy! Car operates perfectly fine. Power is good, no vibrations and it sounds good too. Sometimes the sound goes away after a few mins. Sometimes it goes away after an hour. Sometimes it never goes away. I have changed my plugs, coils, wires and gutted my cat.

I have attached some videos. Those were taken after a cold start and before I had the new plugs, coils and wires installed. It sorta went down after installing them, but I started the car yesterday and started making the ticking sound again!

Is this something I should worry about? Please help

Sounds like a plug is loose. Check your plugs and make sure they all are tight.

I replaced my plugs, coils and wires 200 miles ago. They are all tight. However, I noticed that one of the connectors (I don't know what it's called) that plug into the coils was taped. It's the connector on the other end of the coil. Not the plug wires. Here's a pic to better understand what I'm trying to say.

Make sure that you dont have any loose connections within those wires as well. If you do you'll have to re-pin it. I can't access the video for some reason. Have you done any trouble shooting at all aside from changing the plugs and wires? Have you made sure you dont have a loose connection rattling somewhere. Possibly the intake clamps are loose? Alternator pulley? Idler pulley? Again i can't hear or see the video for some reason so im just guessing. Can you describe it better or possibly post another video?

And he's how it sounds like when the engine has warmed up. Both these were taken BEFORE changing the plugs, coils and wires but even after changing all that, the sound presists.

Considering the amount of issues you have are you willing to give up?

I only have this issue, and a smoking exhaust at start up which I think is coz I overheated it. Other than that, I don't have any other issues. Giving up on what? Fixing these issues? Of course not.

It's really hard to tell anything from that video. What I'd suggest is take a long piece of wood or metal socket extension, hold it to your ear and place the other end on various parts of the engine to try to localize where the ticking/knocking sound is coming from. You'll hear it clearly when you touch the part that is knocking. Obviously don't touch the turning parts like pulleys and belts.

that does not sound normal.
could be a exhaust leak if everything drives normal. does it change while in gear or not? does it get louder or quieter when cold vs warm?

Jasonrxeight, nope. Does not change when in gear. It ticks faster when I rev it. I does sound exhaust related but could it be a pulley? It doesn't make that noise everyday. Sometimes it would tick when cold and go down when warm. Sometimes it won't. I started my RX-8 today and it didn't make that noise. Strange :/

Jasonrxeight, the video you replied to was taken when the engine was cold. Check the second video. I took it when the engine was hot
