Unknown seal

Back

Front
Hi everyone,

I'm doing a tear down/rebuild on a 2008 rx8. Previous owner had really screwed a few things up. I've got an unknown seal that I haven't been able to figure out where it came from yet. Below are some pics. Outside diameter is 48mm, inside diameter is 35mm and depth is 6mm. I've removed most all parts down to the block, but I have not torn apart the block yet.

I can't find any source that gives me seal measurements. Any ideas where this seal may have come from?

Thanks!

Thanks dannobre. Could it possibly be anything else? I haven't removed that part yet.

However, if it could only be the front cover shaft seal I guess I shouldn't be surprised with what I've found they did to this car...

Too small for rear engine seal.

Could be transmission shaft seal on the other end, or diff axle seals.
But there arent too many shaft seals on the car otherwise
