I've just recently changed a fuel pump because the old one was leaking. Since then I ran out of gas even thought my gas gauge read a little above a quarter of a tank. Is there way to reset the pump making the gauge read correctly or is there another problem I'm facing?
I don't think there is a way to reset it. I would think the maybe the float in the take is getting stuck and not allowing the right reading. But I haven't had to deal with the reading of the gas level before so maybe someone else could give some more in detailed info.
There's no way to reset the gauge electronically. You'll need to open up the tank again and see what you might have done to cause the sensor on the left side of the tank to output the bad signal.
In case you weren't aware, our tanks have two sensors; one on the right side and the other on the left. The right side of the tank should empty first so if you're getting an incorrect reading below 1/2 tank then there's probably something wrong with the sensor on the left side. That's also the same side as the pump so that's why I'm guessing you didn't get something connected just right or may have bumped the sender float.

Its either one of the sending units...
Or something happened when you were connecting the black transfer tube that pulls fuel from the other side of the split tank. Either the tube popped off or the siphon isn't working properly
