Thread type for gearbox bolts
Hi all. Hoping I can pick your brains.
acquired an engine to rebuild ready to swap out when the time comes. Can’t mount it on my stand. Fly wheel is in the way. I’m after some spacers and threaded bar to get round this. But having ordered M10 bar I found it doesn’t fit the threads where the bel housing bolts would go. Anyone able to tell me what thread they are and where I can get it?..

When mounting a rotary you usually use the bolts.on the side of the front plate
You have to have the flywheel off and be able to remove the compression bolts that bolt the engine together
Atkins and Pineapple both have adapters for the standard engine stands... and you can easily make one with some angle iron and some pipe

don’t suppose anyone has a decent clear pic of that? Seen it mentioned a few times but can’t quite fathom where I’m bolting to. Don’t wanna place my faith in the wrong part and have it break off. 😂

if you can’t even do a basic intraweb search you better buy a pair of nomex britches too

use the stud and one or both of the bolt holes on the front plate where the A/C compressor mount bolts on.... don't bolt it to the front cover ( aluminum holes) as you need to remove that to get at the oil pump.and front stack/counterweight to get the shaft out

Great result. It’s all mounted and in bits. Any suggestions for a shop near Cardiff who can examine the condition of the bits?.. I can actually lift them all now it’s apart. I’d love to take it to RR or somewhere similar but it’s a long drive...
