SSV VDI VFAD swapped?

Hi there,

I got the ssv stuck open code the other day, and started learning about all the intake valves and such in the renesis to understand what is exactly happening. The ssv is not stuck, I can pushed it with my finger and it moved fine, however I had a friend rev the while I watched the ssv and VDI, and they opened one right after the other around 8k rpm. That doesn't seem quite right based off this: http://www.rx7club.com/attachments/naturally-aspirated-performance-forum-220/320496d1226586392-highest-power-challenge-2-rotor-13b-non-bridge-non-peri-renesis-ve.pdf

Is it possible some of the system isn't connected properly?

Thanks!

Anything is possible. Check the vacuum hoses and check that the black, blue, and white connectors for the solenoids are in the right position. The connectors to the solenoids, should be blue, white, black from top to bottom if looking down from the top of the engine.

Connectors are all proper, further inspection shows the ssv is opening at 6k, and VDI at 7250-7500 ish. Could the apv and ssv possibly be swapped?

It's possible. Look at the vacuum diagram and follow the hoses.

The apv is a motor, so no vacuum line there. The connectors are different as well. Any chance my pcm is faulty or the previous owner got a weird tune done?

I am aware, I didn't notice you snuck APV in there since we were never talking about the APV.

I was referring to the SSV and VDI possibly being swapped.

What code are you getting exactly?

My apologies, I'm kinda learning about this system as I diagnose.

The VDI seems to be working properly, the ssv is opening really late, at about 6k when the apv is supposed open.

I originally started looking at this after a p2070 right after starting

Do I have my solenoid plugs correct?

I need to make sure I have the correct plugs for the VDI and SSV vacuum solenoid switches; , the black pigtail goes to the (bottom) SSV solenoid, the white pigtail goes the (middle) VDI solenoid, and the blue pigtail goes to the (top) cat air pump. Is that correct? Thanks!

Dunno what you mean by pigtail but easiest way to be sure you have it right is to switch off engine then have someone turn ignition on (without starting ) . Then turn ignition off again while you watch the ssv valve/actuator. It should do a cycle on then off again. If you have it correct the ssv will cycle if it's wrong the vdi will cycle.
