Rx8 stalling & hunting for idle after multiple redlines/highway driving. FIX
Hey fellas,
I've been trying to fix this issue for a solid 4 months now, most of my research was based around this forum looking for fellas that had the same issue. I've seen multiple threads but the OP never follows up to confirm if they ever fixed it. I just wanted to post this so if anyone is ever searching for potential fixes they can find this thread.
CLEAN YOUR THROTTLE BODY (FRONT AND BACK) & CLEAN YOUR ESS (E-Shaft Sensor)
I also did the memory reset but I'm not sure if it actually helped with anything. Cleaning is real easy just four bolts and loosen the accordion tube, use throttle body cleaner (or carb cleaner) and go at it with a roughish rag or sponge, try not to use a wire brush if you can but if you do be very gentle to not scratch up the idle air passthrough area. Shout out to Paul from Ontario for putting me on the right track, not sure if he browses this forum but he's a real one.
Cheers,

It sounds like you already know about that solution but what you are missing is asking yourself the question; “is this causing my symptoms?”. I’ll need more information to properly help. The absolute first thing to check is your compression. Have you recently compression tested your engine with a rotary compression tester? Do this first, then I can properly advise. Also, any engine codes?

The car runs great now I definitely fixed the issue, I just made this post so anyone searching online could see how I fixed it. I remember you where helping me about a month ago with this issue as well. Just wanted to say you're an amazing person dedicating a lot of your time with helping this community and keeping these cars on the road.
Compression test was done at 87,000km and the car is at 98,000 now might do another one if I ever get any slow starts or other compression related issues but for now the engine seems to be in great health.

Cheers,
Thanks for posting this, mine has had this behavior since I purchased it used over a year ago and I couldn't pinpoint it. Will have to clean both and see if it resolves the idle searching issue at least. Of to the store to pick up a can of carb cleaner
