Rough idle and stutter when cruising

G/F has a Mazda Tribute and for the first time starting today when we first fired up the car today, it every few idle rotations it would have a single rough idle almost like a misfiring sparkplug. Also while cruise control was locked on exactly 55 at no specific point or mileage (could go .1 of a mile to 5 miles), it would sputter and jerk for a second or two and then was fine. We had a TON of rain lastnight (solid downpours for 10+ minutes where I could not even see the neighbors house across the street for a few hours of time lastnight. Just wondering what everyone else's thoughts might be. My guesses are either:

1) a bad plug/wire (just hit 65k)
2) filled up gas friday, so maybe water in the tank
3) something with the storm lastnight allowed a LOT of water to get in somewhere

thanks for any information/insight you all might have.

Try cleaning the throttle body, it seems like the same symptoms on my mother's Durango and father's Grand Caravan. I took off the intake and cleaned out the throttle body and it did the trick.

thx ren... read a few forums elsewhere and some are saying they had same issue we are having and had to replace the coils.. may just go with trying your suggestion first being its the easiest and cheapest solution so far. and there was a post that its suggested to be cleaned every 30k and we just passed 65k so the timing is pretty accurate.

was running better on ride home lastnight, and into work this morning. i did check the throttle body lastnight and that was pretty clean. guess some moisture got in somewhere it didnt belong with the huge rainstorms we had.
