I had my engine replaced in my '06 RX8 back in 2010 at about 55k. I was told by the dealer at the time that the new engine was warrantied for another 100k. He said the engine itself was warrantied above and beyond the car. At a new dealer today getting some work done and the new engine is starting to go. I asked if they would replace it since the new engine was still under 100k even though the car itself has 127k. They said no, there is only a 100k warranty period. Does anyone know if the engine itself carries the warranty or is this dealer correct? Very frustrated! Thanks, Tim

The original warranty was 8 years/100K miles from the original first purchase date of the car...meaning when the 1st owner actually took ownership. Once you had your engine replaced, you either have the balance of the 8yr/100k original warranty or a 12 month/12,000 mile warranty on the reman (new) engine. So unless you purchased some special extended warranty, you probably have none. I had my reman installed in 2014 and my original warranty expired June 2016 as my 2007 was not purchased until 2009.
