Rx8 cranks but won't start after replacing battery

Hey guys I've read around on the forums to see if anyone had a similar problem but no luck

Here's the situation: Ive had my manual 2004 Rx8 (108k miles) for 2 months now and everything has been great on it, no check engine lights no problems. The person I bought it from had installed a sound system with amp and subs but when I bought none of the speakers would turn on. I fixed the problem it had with the speakers and it sounded great (no fuse). He told me to disconnect the amp if I won't drive it in over a day bc it'll drain the battery. And that happened 2 weeks ago. I tried to turn it on but the dash lights just sputtered. I bought a new battery and I now it'll just crank and crank but it won't turn over. Ive looked some videos up of flooded engines and It has the symptoms of it being flooded. Could it be flooded? The last time j drove it I drive it for 10 minutes with proper warming up. So I'm doubtful it's flooded. Does anyone know what it could be?

Thanks for the reply and I saw that but is it possible for the starting components completely give out from one day to another like that? To be okay one day and fail the next?

If you tried to start it with a weak or dead battery you could have flooded it easily

It is the most likely thing...so I would try thst first

Now that you mention it I did try starting it a few times with the dead battery. So the engine is most likely flooded -.- I had no idea you could flood an engine by trying to start it with a dead battery. Thanks so much man

Rotaries are not Piston Engines. They are finicky beasts that must be treated with great respect, worship, sometimes the occasional child sacrifice.
