RX-8 will not crank!

Hi everyone, I just bought a 2004 RX-8 and it has been great for about two weeks. However I went to start it after coming out of a store yesterday and it wouldn't start, wouldn't even crank. I turn the key and absolutely nothing, I thought it might have flooded but after troubleshooting for a flooded engine it still wouldn't work. As a last resort I tried push starting it which worked like a charm. If I push start it it runs perfectly but when I try starting it nothing. Does this mean the starter is blown or could this possibly be a fuse? Any advice is appreciated

Could be the battery...a connection, a fuse,...starter/solenoid...

Start with the battery first

Thanks for the advice, I don't think it's the battery because all of the electronics still work fine even without the engine on. I think it's the starter but the fact that it doesn't make any sound at all when I try to start it makes me think it could be a fuse, but the ones I've checked have been ok. I'd rather not take it to a dealer because of the price tag that comes with that. Have you ever had this kind of issue before?

My starter solenoid wire fell off ... and it's total silence. The v starter quit and it made the a loud click. ... otherwise could be the battery.
Try the headlights and see how bright they are. . Doesn't take much for the radio and dash to work

I would lean toward the starter being toast. If the wiring and connections all check out, try giving the starter a whack with a rubber mallet while somebody else tries to crank it over. Normally I'd ask if you've noticed it cranking over more slowly than usual, but you've only had the car for two weeks. So not much to gauge it against.

It stated right up after being hit with a rubber mallet, but since I don't want to keep doing that I just bought a new starter and put it in. It definitely starts up a lot faster than it used to now, thanks for the help!
