Rotary Compression Tester vs Twisted Rotors Compression Tester
Rotary Compression Tester vs Twisted Rotors Compression Tester
First off, I apologize if this has been discussed before, if it has please feel free to link to that thread.
I am looking to get a compression tester and I have found one off RotaryCompressionTester.com for $275 (as of this post) as well as Twisted Rotors Compression Tester for $200.
Twisted Rotors Tester is also found on Mazdatrix website ($225) as well, and the only place to get the RotaryCompressionTester is to get it off their website.
I haven't seen any real comparison between the two, and I'm just looking for some personal experience with either. I have two motors that I will be testing and I'm just looking to get something that will perform properly for a while.
Also to note:
Twisted Rotor has two options listed on their website, the "TR-01 [V1.0] Open Source - DIY" for $60 and the TR-01 V3.0 for $200.
For me, I'd have a blast wit the DIY option and figuring it out myself, but I'm trying to get my 8 up and running before the end of the summer.
Does anyone have any experience with one tester over another?
I'm just kinda flying blind here and looking for a heading.
Thanks!

There is nothing particularly special about the RCTV tester. You could definitely make one from scratch. I'm sure the tester you linked works just fine. I've had the RCTV tester for 4 years now and used it dozens of times on many different rotary powered cars. Give it a shot if you want.
The RCTV is what most people use, sometimes the seller will give us on the forums a discount during some holidays. He also sent me a new transducer for free with no hassle when I was offering to pay, pretty sure I was out of the warranty period too.
He is a really good guy to do business with. Very helpful.
We are a pretty niche market.... when we have vendors that care and give back to us and are invested in our community and not trying to make a quick buck... we should make sure to take care of them. I'm extremely pleased with the work and effort he has put into our community, which is why I will continue to advocate for Steve Miracle at Rotary Compression Tester. He is also currently developing a new version of his tester, you can see progress and updates on his facebook page.
