Reusing seals with hylomar on them

Reusing seals with hylomar on them

pretty much had to tear open a motor that I just assembled. There’s hylomar all Over the coolant seals. Are these reusable?

IF the seals were sold as "reusable" then you shouldn't have a problem. Clean the Hylomar off and use Vaseline during reassembly. Make sure you to install with the seams of the water jacket seals in the correct location too. If memory severs me right it's the 1-2 o'clock position on the housings.

Why did you open it back up?

Pretty much had to remove the main gear, once I removed it the rotor fell out of place and all the seals fell out. I don’t think I’ll actually be able to reuse them, they seemed to stretch after I opened the motor back up. I’m using the Atkins seals.
