RENESIS 13B Rebuild

I'm doing a rebuild on my RENESIS 13B engine and have a question about the apex seals as described in the "Engine Workshop Manual 13B-MSP (Multi Side Port)" manual, page 01-10-37. What is the purpose of the triangular end piece that is suppose to be thread locked (glued) and affixed to the end of the apex seal, i.e., why isn't the apex seal one solid piece with this end piece shape already incorporated into the apex seal?

Umm its by design. And not to be glued. That gives the seal movement from side to side. If you want one piece seals buy ceramic one piece seals.

Buy a rebuild video at least before you continue please.

Do super glue the corner piece for assembly. Do it on a piece of glass so you can line it up well and then 'peel' it off as one piece. Once you fire up the rebuilt engine the super glue will burn off and it will stay in place as two pieces. Without super gluing it you won't be able to insert the apex seal + springs into rotor groove...

I can't recall why it is in two pieces, I think it has something to do with easier engine starts.

It goes in just fine without gluing them, but a drop of superglue wouldn't hurt. It would burn off really quick. Just slide in the long piece and springs at the same time. Then push in the end piece. Itll go right togther.

You stand corrected. If I do need a rebuild video, I'll let you borrow it!

Sorry sweetheart got one from atkins and watched the free one from pinapple racing. Neither say anything about gluing them.

So ill trust 2 well known builders advice over one who has no discussion reference even off the internet.

If you get yours running well see if it lasts longer then the one i rebuilt 3 years ago and is now boosted

There is a reason they come in one piece (glued) from mazda or in any other kit you choose to buy. The assembly is simply easier. There is no question whether everything (apex seal + springs) is seated properly in the rotor or not and the iron goes on top easily. I don't doubt there may be other ways of doing it. This one worked well for me.

Mine didn't come glued, but i agreed super glue should be fine. Thread lock or some other glue maybe not so much.

About the apex seals ..

Read pages 01-10-37 and 01-10-38 in the 13b msp engine manual.

Superglue will also substitute.
